Solve one of the Micro's Problems "Temperature"

Temperature is one of the most important factors that affect the micro environment of farms.

An average internal farm's temperature of 27-31 C would be good and favored by Swiftlet. Of cos there are farms that have higher temperature reading and yet have plenty of nests, to do this you need to know how to manipulate with the RH.

There are many ways that we could do to reduce heat and making the temperature to a desirable level in our farms. Some of the ways are putting aluminium bubble foil on roof, thick wall, etc.

But before we do all those things we need to know the precise temperature in the farms first.

As I had mentioned before the temperature of the ceiling & floor are always different. So how do we get the temperature reading of the the ceiling and areas that are hard for us to reach? Do we place Hygrometer at the ceiling areas? If yes then we would need lots of Hygrometers.

To solve all these, I recommend a tool call Infra Temperature sensor.

It is very handy and portable .You can bring it anywhere you want in your farm. The readings in digital.

It has the laser beam to detect the temperature. Just point the laser beam at the preferred area in second you will get the reading. The distance of reading easily 5 meters.
.

Even on area that are hard to reach , just point the beam there you will get the reading. With this sensor for sure you would discover many different temperature readings in your farm.
.

With the Temperature information then you could decide who to do with your farm.

This would help you to solve one of the most important factors of the Micro environment.

Spec of the Infra Temperature sensor

  1. Back light selection
  2. Measurement range: (minus) -32 degree C 300 degree C
  3. Accuracy + - 1.5 C
  4. Resolution:0.1 degree C
  5. Celsius and Fahrenheit switch button.
  6. Emissive: 0.95
  7. Response Time and Wavelength: 500ms & (8-14)um.
  8. Auto power shut off.
  9. Automatic data hold.
  10. Low battery indication.
  11. DC 9V battery operation.

(The infra Temp Sensor is Rm 280 excluding postage. For more info email swifjames@yahoo.com)

Reviving of Failed Farms

Received many emails and Sms about unsuccessful farms. Some readers had spent over 100k and after 3 years only managed to harvest 20 nests.

Some of these farms are located in the Prime (Swiftlet Haven Zone) areas like Kedah (S.P), Kelantan (Krai) and Trengganu.

How could this happened? There are some which I knew very well from these same areas could do 200- 500 nests or even more in 1-2 years time.

So is that the problem of the area or the farm itself?

Well of cos it is the farm itself. I had even received emails from readers who had operated farms for more than 2 years that could not differentiate between internal & external sounds.

They emailed me the sound and asked my opinion. I believe if it is done in a right manner chances of success are high.

I was asked to visit this farm which is located in the North which had been operated for almost 3 years now. Total renovation and set-up cost was about Rm 120k.

The last count of nest was 45 pcs. It was located in the Prime Zone area. The owner had persistently called me, till I promised to visit his farm. He was a nice guy.

Before the visit, thru our tele-conversation I was made understood that all the micro environments in his farm were perfect. Well if all were perfect then how come 45 nests after 3 years at the Prime Zone?

I guess this is usual as I knew most owners would tell me that the micro is perfect even though it is totally out, this is very much their perception. I reserved my reservation then.

As I had visited many farms, very clearly I knew when I walked into the farm there are dozen of mistakes could be detected without even going to the 1st or second floor , so how could it be perfect? 45 nests in 3 years at Prime Zone. It can not be perfect!

I guess if the owners themselves could detected all these problems then their farms wouldn't be at the 45 nests category.

Beside the micro the design of the farm was the biggest problem. The design was made without taking into consideration of the birds flying path.

The birds do not feel secured when they were in the farm as they find it hard to maneuver.

The roving size was out , the runway was too short. The entrance hole was placed at the area that do not favor by birds and dozen more, so how could one expect the birds to stay and make nest.

( above is the design of his farm which later was re-renovated)

The moment when the birds fly in thru the entrance hole they headed to the roving area and turn right back to the entrance hole for exist and never come back again .

Besides these the Temp & the RH were also out so does the darkness of the farm.

So I advised him to re-renovated the roving area, the position of the entrance and the inter room hole to accommodate the flying patent of the Swiftlets.

He noted " so much to learn one ah" I thought just put up partitions here and there birds will come to make nest".

I asked him " isn't it sounds easy? How come you never thought of it? How come the one who did your farm for you never told you? He laugh ..ha..ha..

The renovation takes about a week to complete and new birds sound was loaded to his pendrive and the farm starts its sound again.

4 weeks later, This is what I received from this Nice guy ;

Hello Mr. James

Thank you very much for helping me to solve my farm problems. Now more and more birds are flying into the nesting area to live.

The birds also many already. Many new birds shit now. Also new nests coming up. I very happy and thank you very much for coming to ......... help me.

Please come again and I shall take you for a good dinner better than last time.

Take care Mr. James

from

Mr. Wong...........

Therefore I guess whether a business or a swiftlet farm, an in dept understanding of the inter & external environment would certainly helps you to reduce the risk of falling into the failure category.

It sounded & looked easy but there are so much more to learn.

Type of Piezo Tweeter "where to Place Them"

Piezo Tweeter

The are many types of tweeters available in the market, the common one that most Swiftlet farms are using is the Piezo type. This simply tweeter doesn't has a magnet on its back and it produces sharp and clear sound especially sound of bird's chirping.

Best of all it is cheap and easily available. The Piezo tweeter that commonly use by farms come in two type. The higher end one has a copper coil and a diode at its back and it produces better sound quality than the one that has no copper coil.

( two different shapes of copper coiled tweeters " Motorola quality")

Furthermore the coiled one tends to last longer than the one without copper coil. Using the coiled type would solve your problems of changing them frequently.

The coiled type Piezo tweeter referred by many as "Motorola Tweeter' because it has the superb sound quality, Crystal clear & sharp sound similar to the original Motorola Tweeter with 1/4 of the price.

( copper coil and a diode at the back of a Piezo tweeter for long lasting use . " Motorola Quality")

Of course using the original Motorola tweeters would cost many times more than the one I had mentioned furthermore the sound produced by both is similar and the original Motorola tweeters are not easily availability.

This Piezo copper coiled tweeter comes with the frequency of 5k-20khz which is within the echolocation of the swiftlets. Its sensitivity is at 105 db.

Using it you won't have to worry about whether your tweeters are transferring the complete sounds which your amp/DVD are playing.

( a nest built on top of a Coiled Tweeter)

Placement of tweeter

Having used the above tweeters one also has to make sure the placement of the tweeters are at the correct place and all are in strategic location to have the most optimum birds attraction capability.

We can't simply place the tweeters as we want in the farm this would not attract birds to stay and to make nest.

As we all know sound and placement of tweeters are important factors that determine a successful farm.

All tweeters must be faced the entrance hole of the farm. This is because when the sound is played birds that entered the roving area ,especially new birds that entering the farm for the 1st time would fly deeper into farm especially into the nesting room.

If the tweeters are placed not facing the entrance hole chances are most birds that entered the roving would eventually fly out without entering further to the nesting room. Birds that had entered the roving area maybe confused and leave the farm immediately.

( the tweeters are facing the entrance hole)

Most failed farm shared similar problem of birds didn't fly deep into the farm to cover more areas especially nesting room. Therefore having a good tweeters and the placing them in a strategic area would helps to increase birds population.

The average recommendation of tweeters per area/farm is, 60-80 pcs of tweeters per 1400-1600sf is sufficient enough. Of course the are many who put more than this and some less.

I had came across farms that have 250 tweeters for the size of 1400sf. Well for me 60-80 pcs of tweeters are good enough.

So having good quality tweeters really makes a different as the sound transferred out by the tweeter is clear & sharp that similar to the original sound of birds.

This would make the birds feel safer and comfortable when the enter the farm for the 1st time.

So make sure your farm passes one of the most important factors of micro environment that determine a successful farm.

From My Reader Who Use LOVE POTION

While I was driving yesterday, I received many calls & sms. I had tried to answer but the traffic polices were all around. I wouldn't want to get a summon.

So I stopped my car at the side and check who called me. As I scroll down my the messages i saw this sms.

" Fantastic, I can't believe the response".

I was wondering what was it all about? So with curiosity, I called back the number. It was
Dr.Ung from Kedah who had used my Love Potion.

I asked him what is the "Fantastic response" about. He replied with excitement, " James I used the Love Potion and to my surprise I couldn't believe what I see. I had never seen s0 many birds in my roving before"

He was so happy and he thanked me for the Love Potion. Indeed I was happy too because the Love Potion is my brain child and now it had helped farms to attract birds.

I asked him to email me the experience he encountered with Love Potion so that all readers could share his excitement.

Below is the email I received from Dr. Ung ( nokenzo)

Dear Mr James,

I would like to congratulate you for your wonderful magic love potion hormone. I applied your magical love potion to my bird farm and 30 hours later at 5.30 pm, I went to check the result and my goodness, it was fantastic and unbelievable.

There were swarms of swiftlets like locusts flying around and in/out of my bird farm. What can I say except wonder with dropping jaw.

Thanks James for your magical love potion. Shall let you know when I go in to check the result in the farm next month.

nokenzo (Dr.Ung)

I am sure he is very satisfy with what the Love Potion had done. That is why he called it MagiC Love Potion.....ha..ha..ha.

Hope the Love Potion would help to turn around farms that are not producing good result and those that want to increase nests and birds population in their farms.

The best satisfaction for me is to be able to turn around failed farm.

Thank you Dr.Ung for sharing the your experience with us!

LOVE POTION " Strikes Again'

Few days ago I visited a Swiftlet Farm that I had applied the Love Potion. This farm had started for months but it had never attracted any bird to stay. The owner had tried many ways to improve it but the result was disappointing.

This is one of the few farms that I had tested with the Love Potion. I had applied the Love Potion in all strategic areas of the farm to attract birds to stay at least.

After almost 4 weeks, it clearly shown that the areas once were never thought that could attract birds to stay had turned out to be favorite place for birds. Look at the birds dropping.

Even though the amount is not a lot, but this indicates an improvement as the owner never seen a single spot of birds dropping at his farm before since the opening of his farm.

The were many spots of birds dropping at all corners of his farm. Some birds dropping are in big patches and some are in small patches.

This is good enough to him because he just wants his farm to attract birds to stay, the nests" he said are secondary as he believe one thing at a time first. He got a point there.

If your farm can't even attract birds then what is the point of talking about nests. He is certainly right.

Below is a smaller patch of birds dropping. There are small patches but in many spots. In few months time it should become more.

This is what most farm's owner wanted. When they first started the sound and open their farm for the first time you could see the joy and the excitement on their faces .

The hard works, the time they had sacrificed, the efforts and without forgetting money$$$$ after months of waiting everything is out for a test.

Their confident is usually high......but as they wait...and...wait.. and waited...and ..waited...their high confident seemed to be faded away.

Less birds are coming to play, those birds that had entered the farm and leave and never come back again . Eventually non would come and play and non would enter the farm at all.

The owners would feel that whatever they had done and sacrificed all had gone down the drain.

Imagine this situation and suddenly few weeks or months later, one day you visit your farm and out of a sudden you discovered your farm filled up with many patches of fresh birds dropping.

Would you be happy? Only you know.

At least it indicates that there are chances that you could turn around your farm.

So keep the spirit and confident high! Everything is Possible!

Swiftlet CD Sound

Nowadays, there are many different types of Bird chirping sounds available in the market. Some are expensive, some are cheap and some maybe free where you could download from the Internet.

A good Bird chirping sound and expensive one would cost more than thousand and often it is hard to get. If you used the right CD sound, the returns generated from nest harvesting is many times more than the money invested on the right and good CD sounds.

Well how do we know all these sounds are good? Could all these sounds make Swiftlets stay and make nest in the shortest period of time in our farm? Well in order to tell the differences we had to have some knowledge about Birds chirping sounds.

If you understand the functions of every each type of sound and able to differentiate them , then choosing one is not that hard.

There are many type of sounds available now, some have been mixed and collaborated with Synthetic sounds.

The sole reason is to attract as many birds as possible to come to the source of sound

but this doesn't mean that the birds would enter the farm to stay and to make nest.

A good sound may not attract many birds to come and play at the initial stage but it has the ability to encourage the birds to enter the farm easily. This type of sound normally are smooth sounds that make the Swiftlets feel more safe, comfortable and eager to enter the entrance hole.

There are many incidents where newly built farms started to play the Birds sound ,the first few weeks it attracted many birds (hundreds) but weeks later not a single one comes.

There are also incidents when the bird sound is played hundreds of birds came flying above the farm but non, not even a single one wants to enter the entrance hole.

So it is not appropriate to use numbers of birds a Cd sound could attract to justify a good sound. It is a totally wrong perception. Lets have some understanding about sound.

Important criteria of selecting a good quality sound is;

1) The sound must be clear

2) No hiss & hum

3) No back ground sound other than bird' chirping (except Stress sound for Birds call purposes).

Basically Swiftlet Sounds could be divided into 3 groups;

1) External sound

a) Pooling sound:

This sound is placed outside of the farm to attract birds from farm away or from other nearby farms. This is done by using the Hexagonal speaker or the Long Rage speaker the (DIY)
b) External sound:

Which is placed at the entrace hole to attract birds to come into the farm.

c) Inviting sound:

Which is placed at the Roving area to invite and guide the birds to venture deeper into the farm so that more area of the farm are covered by the birds thus higher chances of fast nest building.

(Hexagon Tweeter, to attract Swiftlets to you farm)

2) Internal sound

a) Baby Swiftlet sound

This is mainly the sound of baby and female chirping . It is played in the nesting area to encourage the birds to breed. Choosing a right baby sound is important .This will make young birds to feel safer.

b) Population & Baby sound

This is a powerful sound that encourage population grow and to encourage birds to stay. It also prevent the young birds from leaving your farm for others farms. This sound is recorded from dense birds population farms. Playing this sound the birds feel safer. It is to increase birds population.

3) Birds Test sound

This sound is created for the purpose of birds test only. The frequency is very high where it could be heard farm from far away. It is a distress call (SOS) . "STRESS SOUND" it is not recommended for farm use.

Having in- dept understanding about sound would help you to avoid playing sound that might be feared by swiftlet. That is why so many complained that when they changed the CD sound of their farms all birds fly away and never come back.

Sound is one of most powerful factors in the micro environment any mistake made will do lots of harm to your farm.

Also understanding the function of each types of sound would help your farm to attracts birds to stay and make nest. Currently I am compiling few sets of Cd sounds that consist of the above external & internal sounds.

These compilations are re-mixed of sounds that encourage birds to enter the entrance hole without fear, especially for new farm and for internal sound it is a combination of baby and population sound to encourage young birds to make nest. A set comes in 2 Cds. It has been carefully re-mixed and selected from 20 best Cd sounds available.

Simply playing unknown CD sound in your farm could cause damage. So choosing the right sound and using them in the right place is most decisive.

For those who want to know more detail about the cds please email swifjames@yahoo.com

Not everybody Creativity Works

There are many farms that I saw which are very unique. The design came from the farms' owners and they actually built it themselves without getting any advise from others.

Thumbs up! I really respect their enthusiasm and their courage but somehow this is not enough.

They should have focused on the basic theory of whether the structure they designed and build will eventually attracts Swiftlet to stay and to make nests.

When one gets involved in this Swiftlet Farming thing, I am sure the sensation of wanting to own or start a farm is unbearable.... the faster to have a farm built the better it is, immaterial whether the farm could yield a good harvest in years to come.

But for those who are in such situation normally think that their farm would easily harvest few kgs in 1 or 2 years time. That is very abitious but in reality it doesn't work this way.

This sensation feeling of owning a farm is very common amongst Newbies. Well it is good, this would make them searching for info and coming out with amazing idea.

This urge will eventually make them ended up having a farm like the picture below.

This farm is built in front of a single storey house. The width of the farm is about 5ft. I respect the owner because he could somehow built this farm in such a small area.

But with the wide of 5 ft it is totally disaster. The birds could hardly make a turn in such small narrow area. I wonder had he thought of this? I guess not . If he knew he wouldn't have built it at the 1st place.

Look at the picture above, a trumpet type Long range speaker . Isn't that amazing..ha..ha.ha. Farm's owner could apply their creative idea to their farms but make sure it is practical and able to attract birds.

I had visited many farms, sometimes I could not believe what I am seeing.

Some farms' owners are so creative to an extend of what they did to their farms is actually preventing the birds from coming to their farms and scaring the birds away.

One of the example is playing different External sound every 1 hour or 1/2 hour. I even came across a farm owner, told me that he had created an internal design that will prevent the birds from flying out.

So that all the birds will not go to other farms. What a truly amazing idea.

I replied, if the birds can't get out from the farm then what happen to the birds....I guess all of you know.

While I was writing this, I received a call from a newbie, he complained that when he did a bird test call, the External sound doesn't attract as many birds as compared to the Stress sound and he wasn't happy about that.

I replied that "a Stress sound is for testing purposes and the External sound is for external use and of course some had use it for birds test as well. In fact you know that very well".

He replied yes I knew it very well that the stress sound is for testing only and so on...I was wondering if the Stress sound is good for testing then why do you have to use the external sound for bird test purposes?

So you see there are many of them, actually knew very well that the entrance should not be facing certain sides, there shouldn't be any pillar in the farms, the Stress sound shouldn't be used in farm, a Stress sound is only for birds test,etc....and yet they are still doing it. Probably they just want to see what is the result if they go against it or they are too confident with what they know.

This is not an Art or Drawing which you could add in your creativity when ever you want, if you do it differently or out of the basic criteria guideline or against nature you will be heading for disaster.

I am sure for most who had farms for many years knew very well that there is not such thing as "I will do this first then if it doesn't work then I will try other ways" often most of the things that are done are permanent and making changes need lots of money.

My advise is follow the basic and always know what you are doing. Having good creativity is good but make sure there is no back fire. If you are unsure don't try to be different from the basic.

The more you want your farm to be different from others the more you would be ended up similar to those above.

Stand Out, Be Different with Bright Colors

I am sure many had noticed some farms are painted with colors. I suppose most have no idea what it is for.

The reason being, is to stand out amongst others. Some believed with unique colors it could attracts Swiftlet to their farms.

Some believed that it works as a landmark for easy identification so the birds won't miss the farm and ended else where.

It is also another way of hypnotising the young Swiflets so that when they grow big they won't go to other farms.

(This farm has attracted many birds, look at the color)

Somehow or rather there is no study or research evidence shows that farms painted with unique colors attract birds to stay or birds population will grow.

The reason of most Entrance Holes are painted black is to create a contrast as the whole wall is white in color. This is to follow the cave concept where the lime stone caves are white and the hole/entrance are dark.

(It stand out from the light brown back ground)

But thru my observation it seemed this color contrast theory works. Some very successful farms indeed painted with colors, especially bright colors.

My conclusion is that to create a contrast similar to the Cave concept theory. I also believe easy identification is also part of it.

There are hundred perhaps thousand of farm where all looked almost the same from the sky therefore having a bright color would definitely stand out.

( you could see this farm from farm away)

So next time for a change you may want to paint your farm with bright colors. So that when yours birds come back in the evening they will know whose farm to go in.

New Nest in Making with "Birds Love Potion"

Here are some of the pictures of the birds starting to make nests on the areas that the Love Potion had been applied.

As you see closely you could see some initial lines which are laided by saliva. The darker color are those saliva lines. There are so many marking and thru my experience there will be easily 5-6 nests will be formed at this area.

( gradually the lines become more and thicker then a cup shape will be formed)

In order to have such fast results the farms must also have a good micro environment, coupled with the Powerful Love Potion the growth rate of nests will increase.

( for those who had not seen swiftlet's initial nest marking before , above is the picture)

As I had mentioned before, Aroma is only one of the major factors in the micro environment that determine whether a farm fail or otherwise.

So the whole micro environment has to be good. When all these factors are good and well balanced then the farm will be successful.

With such good environment the numbers of nest will increase, bird's population increase and young birds will not leave for other farms.

( the nest making has spread to the right side, the whole intention was to spread the nest making thus increasing bird's population)

It is not easy to control and to maintain the micro environment but it could be done and many had done it.

Currently there are so many gadgets in the market that are specially designed for this purposes. So no worries!

So next time if you see these marking in your farm it shows that nests are coming ! coming! more! more!
..
Indeed I am very happy with the result of the Love Potion. Hope it will help all farms.

Plenty of Birds Shits show Good Sign!

Yesterday I received a call from one of the owner of the farms that I had tested the Love Potion . He was very excited and happy. He said the ground below the areas that I had applied the Love Potion now have bird's dropping. As It was 3 weeks ++ ago we applied the Potion.

I asked him, plenty? He replied quite a lot. I wanted to go to his farm immediately to see it by myself and take some pictures. His farm is a new one and it has not attracted birds to stay all this while.

I was busy with my job (not swiftlet stuff) so I was unable to go. The areas that I had applied the Potion, all have been marked for easy identification. There were about 20 spots that we had targeted.

He replied that there were many bird's shit in spotted groups. So I asked him" what about that corner? What about the corner at the inter hole? What about the side next to the stairs case and so on. He replied" you came and see it by yourself lah...ah ya! Very hard to tell, so many corners...

I guess I must be more excited then him. So I told him that I would visit his farm next week. I will take some pictures and post it here for all my readers.

It seemed that the birds had stayed at the farm in that short period of time. With his feedback, the numbers of bird's shit in spotted groups means most birds staying are in pairs. That is wonderful.

Well I shall not elaborate more before I see it myself as I always believe "seeing is believing".

So I shall keep you all updated..

Successful Swiftlet Farm " with Enhanced Hormone"

Sometimes it is good to be with the majority. This shows that you are ok and perfectly fine. The rate of unsuccessful farms still stood at 85% (perhaps more). So if you are with the majority of 85% you don't have to worry knowing that many people are in the same position like you.

Of course most would like to be in the 10-15% side but it is not easy. Furthermore now many coming into this industry without having basic knowledge. Most relied on C.......... to have their farm built.

2-3 year thereafter complaining about their failed farm and their investment gone. I wonder when they entrusted the C...... to do their farm did they complain then? If no, then why now?

( 3 years +, failed farm with 30 nests. Renovation cost 100K & uncounted $$ of rectification works).

It is not that hard to have a successful farm , all you need to do is to think like a Swiftlet...ha..ha.ha.

If you tried to be smart and think like a genius I bet you will fail. There is no Rocket scientist needed to run a successful farm.

The most important factor is understanding of the Micro of your farm. There are many of them. One of the Micro factor is Hormone Aroma. The Hormone Aroma will attract birds to stay in your farm and encourage them to mate and make nests.

The more they stay the higher chances they will make nests. Knowing the characteristics of Swiftlet live in colonies so if the Hormone smell could attract a colony to stay more will follow.

But getting the right Hormone smell is not easy often unavailable. That is why most C.... advised people to put bird's shit in farms. This is to attract birds to stay often the smell doesn't last. The smell from bird's shit is totally different from the Hormone smell.. so one has to think like a birds not like a genius.

( Double Deck Nests One On top the other. Very successful farm. I guarantee you the owner is not a Rocket scientist).

If you understand the basic and the factors affecting the Micro conditions, having a good swiftlet farm like the one in the picture is not impossible.

If you observed closely you will noticed Swiftlets like to flock together and even they build nests they tend to build them very close to each other.

This is because when both adults birds mate or making nests they will produce a scent (hormone Aroma) from their bodies. This scent will stimulate any young birds around and encourage then to find a partner. Therefore sometimes you will see 4 -5 swiftlets clinching on to a single nest.

I guess the more the merrier. So having the right Hormone Aroma is decisive especially for new farms that want to attract birds to stay at their farms and make nests.

A good Hormone Aroma prevents young birds from leaving your farm for other new farms. This is to prevent bird's population to drop in old farms. So it is advantage to have Enhanced Hormone smell in your farm.

How to Use the Love Potion

The Love Portion will be available in few days time. Currently I am mixing the ingredients and it takes few days for the ingredients to react. The quantity is limited as it is 100% farm made...he..he.

The Love Potion comes in 1.5 Liter bottle.

There are few ways of using the Love Potion. To be effective please follow the recommendation below .

1)Pre-Nesting Plank installation.

Before the installation of the Nesting Planks, poke a small hole on the plastic cap of the bottle. Point the cap at the edges of the wall and squeeze make sure the liquid sprays on to the wall edges.

Drying time 4-5 hours before the next following spray. 2 times a day. Alternate days for 3 days. Alternately a painting brush could also be used.

2)New farms.

Same as above but the Love Potion is squeezed on to the wall below the nesting planks to create a Bird's heating environment.

At the same time use a paint brush to apply on all corner boards or the 90dg corners. Make sure it is not too wet. This is done continuously for 2 days. eg: 1st application in the morning then let it dry. Another coat is done the next day.

For new farms it is recommended to apply the potion at least once a month. The best is every 3 weeks once.

3) To Increase Old farms Birds Population and Nests.

Same as new farms , apply the Love Potion onto Planks area with a brush about 1-2 feet away from areas that have nests. Also apply on Planks that have no nests. This is to encourage the bird to spread their nests making area. Same as new farm application every 3 weeks once.

4) Corner Board.

Pour 1/2 bottle in to a bucket . Put the Corner Board in it. Soak it for 4-5 hours then dry it under the sun till 100% dry. Continue doing it for 2 days. Once dried you could install the Corner board.

5) Areas to Apply the Love Potion .

All walls, the roving area and the wall near the entrance. If your inter floor is the stair case spray it at the wall there. Make sure below the Nesting Planks, if there are no Nesting Planks in your roving area or the stair case area. Make sure you spray it at the ceiling edges the birds may make nest there........................................................................................................................................

Estimated 1 bottle is good for 1 floor of a farm. Availability of the Bird's Love Potion is limited so please email and make your booking.

Please send email to swifjames@yahoo.com.

The Powerful Love Potion "Beyond My Expectation"

My mobile phone keeps on ringing this morning. I wonder who is the caller better be something urgent or else I will %#$$$ at the caller.

It was my friend who has a Swiftlet farm in Perak. I shouted, why you call so early? He seemed speechless. He cried, you have to see this by yourself as I always tell him seeing is believing.

I replied what? He cried again "my farm is full with Swiftlets and nests". I thought he was joking as there are no Nesting Planks in his farm and furthermore his farm is only 80% completed.

Yes seeing is believing until I witness it myself.

Last month exactly one month ago, while I was formulating my Love Potion he called me up. He complained that I didn't visit his farm after I had advised the contractor about the design and the works schedule. I told him I will visit his farm to check out the renovation works as soon as I completed the Love Potion.

I asked him to use it on all edges of the farm before installing the nesting planks.

Coincidently the Red Meranti Planks that he had ordered for his farm is out of stock and he has to wait for 3-4 weeks.

The Saw Mill asked us to substitute with other woods but we wouldn’t want to compromise and we rather wait. Of cause other Saw Mill may have the Meranti Planks but we trusted this Saw Mill which we have worked with for many years.

So he has to wait and this is a good time for him to apply the Love Potion. He applied 3 times every other day.

I asked him why so much he replied, to let the Potion slowly adsorbed into the edges of the wall. He got a point there.

( the birds are clinching onto the edges of the wall that has the Love Potion aroma)

I suggested while waiting for the Meranti planks to arrive why don’t we do some hypnotize works (for those who have experience will know the meaning)?

Well there is nothing to loose anyway. So we pulled the wire of the Amp and attached to 2 tweeters and fixed it onto the entrance hole. My friend laughed at me for doing this.

He said if the birds come in where are they going to stay? There are no nesting planks in my farm yet.

I replied just play the external sound this will attract the birds to play in your farm and later when you install the Planks the birds will build nest faster as they got used to the sound “this is call hypnotism work” again he laughed.

Anyway he was a nice fellow otherwise I would have punched him on the nose.

So the sound system was fixed as usual with timer plays 12 hours a day (only 2 tweeters).

As we both work in K.L so we did not check out the farm during these 4 weeks as it is located in Perak. Anyway what is there to check out? There are no electronic items except one cheap Amp and there are no Nesting Planks.

(young birds in mating mood)

Finally almost 4 weeks after he had applied the Love Potion the Saw Mill called him to deliver the Meranti Planks and he drove up to his farm and to his surprise his farm has plenty of birds and nests. His jaw dropped and he couldn’t believe what he was seeing

The Love Potion has attracted the birds to make nests and stay. It is so powerful that even without the nesting planks the birds still so eager to make nests.

It makes the young birds to mate. This has proven that with the Love Potion the birds will make nests and thus the bird’s population in the farm will increase.

The results came out beyond my expectation. It was amazing. My conclusion is, this Potion is a must have aroma for all farms, either new or old farms.

Finally my hard work and countless hours of studying the base and formulation have paid off.

For sure we both are dam happy now. For me the Love Portion's result came out beyond my expectation and for him even before his farm completed he can start counting the nest.

Not many people are as lucky as him.

The Love Potion will be available in few days time. Only limited quantity available. For those who are interested please email me for booking. There will be charges but reasonable charges. swifjames@yahoo.com

Duck Eggs? for sure your Farm Stink

I received many queries from my readers about Duck eggs as aroma for farms. My advise is know what you are doing.

The effect of putting something that you have no idea of may be costly. The stink smell from the Duck eggs would do permanent damage to your farm internal environment at the same time invites predators especially big lizards (tokek).

Naturally Lizard loves eggs. The smell of Duck eggs attracts lizards to the farm. They will eat the swiftlet eggs. Getting rid of them is not easy. This will make birds avoiding your farm.

Below is the comment from a book written by a well known person in the Swiftlet farming industry of Indonesia " Drs.Arief Budiman . The history of indonesia Swiftlet farming could be tracked back to as early 19th century.( Below is the Bahasa Melayu version)

(Mixing Duck eggs, honey and fish oil is a Myth. For sure it will invite predators which we are avoiding)

Hope this will clear the air about all those Duck eggs. This Duck eggs issue is not new for those who have been long enough in this industry. The idea originated from Indonesia.

It has been debated many years ago in Indonesia and the trial & test were done many years ago and the result shows it has no effect on attracting birds but making your farm stink! That is for sure guarantee.

How about using the century eggs as a base for aroma? It looks good isn't it? If it doesn't work then at least you can eat it..... the lizards , cockroaches, ants, etc all are waiting for you to apply the aroma that contain Duck eggs.

This will invite predators. Red ants love Duck eggs as it contains protein....so does LIZARD!

Increase Birds Population with Love Potion

The last whole week I was very busy, that was why I didn't up date my blog. Sorry guys!.

I left K.L on Saturday in the morning at about 9 am heading down south as one of my readers is expecting me. The journey was smooth and the weather was good.

Mr. Reader was waiting for me at the toll and later we have lunch before we headed for his farm which is about 5km from the town.

While having lunch Mr. Reader told me that before he started his farm 3 years ago there were less than 50 farms in this area and now it has more than 500 farms.

His farms was a Stand-alone type located at an Oil palm plantation. A beautiful 20 x 80, 3 storeys with plenty of vegetation surrounding the farm. As far as the location concerned this farm is built on a right area.

He wanted to improve the bird’s population in his farm that is why I was invited to visit his farm. We had communicated thru the emails and the best way I believe was on site investigation as I had told him. ...........................................................................................................................................................................

There were many things you could observe when you are in the farm. You could feel the temp & Rh whether it right or otherwise without needed to look at the Hygrometer. After lunch we headed for his farm which is hidden in the plantation. ...........................................................................................................................................................................

The farm looks good, external environment is perfect so does the exterior of the farm. Let’s get down to work. I was all over the farm from the ground floor to the roof top investigating the each floor from placement of entrance hole to Ventilation hole and observing the flying patent of the birds, .....................................................................................................................................................................................

Wow this sounded like CSI in the movie. This farm has plenty of rooms for improvement. While I was applying the Love Potion it seems that more birds were entering the farm they seemed to be attracted by the Love Potion................................................................................................................................................................

They were flying at the area that we had painted the Love Potion. I was so surprised, one birds nearly knocked on my hand while I was applying the Potion. I guess they liked the Love Potion.

The Potion is being painted onto/above a Styrofoam at selected strategic locations on the Nesting Planks. ...........................................................................................................................................................................

Especially to be applied to area that has no nest or has few nests. This is to spread the nest making to more areas of the farm thus increasing the numbers of nests.....................................................................................................................................................................

The quality of nest here is fantastic, while we were up at the nesting plank we did some harvesting . ......................................................................................................................................................................................

The size was amazing, this is what we call quality nest. Not many farms could produce such sizes. Most I have seen in other farms are barely more than 3" wide. The size of the birds is of normal average size. This is a result of good vegetation.

There were few problems I discovered and I explained to Mr.Reader the reason behind it. He agreed and was very happy because no one had ever told him about the reason behind the problems. Most would advise him what to do without telling him why........................................................................................................................................................................

I am very sure in few months time the number of nests will increase. I told him to do the rectification works immediately as the Love Potion is attracting many birds now, so he could take advantage of new birds visiting the farm. ............................................................................................................................................................................

After my task was completed and as I looked at my watch without realising several hours had passed . So we decided to leave for some "Makan". .............................................................................................................................................................................

He took me to a famous noodle shop. Obviously it was delicious, I guess I was hungry then..... Mr. Reader was a nice and down to earth person I don't mind to impart some of my knowledge that I had to him.

It was a tiring day but I enjoyed it very much because Swiftlet farming is my hobby and passion. .............................................................................................................................................................................

I am sure we shall meet again in a couple of months time. I would like to see the improvement of his farm personally. I guess I would be most satisfy to see the numbers of nests increased.

Nice and Sincere Reader

I received an email from one of my readers regarding the LOVE POTION. He was very keen to try out the potion in his farm. He has a farm of 3 years ++ the result was not satisfactory and many changes had been done to his farm yet the growth of birds still stagnant.

Unfortunately his farm is located in the Northern part of Johor which is very far from where I live. The Love Potion is free but the travelling may cost me, furthermore these couple of weeks I was tight-up with my potion trial with few selected farms in Selangor at the same time my other works commitment too which is my permanent job.

With his persistency of email, sincerity and he sounded like a nice person, well then I decided to accept his invitation to visit his farm even though I was busy with my other commitment.

Not only he will be having the LOVE POTION for free for his farm but also free consultation and advises that would solve his farm's problem.

I shall find out "trouble-shooting" the reason of why the farm is not attracting many birds to nest. Also checking the design and the flying path and finding a solution for the farm to improve the ability to attract Swiftlets.

(how nice if your farm could attract many Swiftlets like the above picture)

I hope with my help he would be no longer worried about his investment. I shall keep you
all updated with the findings.

Formation of Nesting Plank

A good Nesting Plank arrangement would help Swiftlet farm increases its birds population. There are so many ways of setting up the formation. The most common ones are the two below.

Boxes Plank Type.

Besides choosing the right type of wood for your Nesting Plank the arrangement of the plank is also important. In general there are two ways of arrangging the Nesting Plank......................................................................................................................................................................

One is to create many boxes the size of 3-1/2 x 1-1/2 ft .This type of arrangement is to maximize on the 90dg corners that favor by young adult Swiftlets. ...........................................................................................................................................................................

With many 90gd corners it is easy for young adult Swiftlets to choose and to make nest. The young Swiftlets are some what lazy I guess. ...........................................................................................................................................................................

Young adult Swiftlets prefer to make nest on 90dg corners because they are inexperience in making nest and less saliva is needed. ............................................................................................................................................................................

Due to this, it takes a shorter period of time for the Swiftlets to complete their nests. With this type of arrangement the Swiftlets population in the farm would increase faster. ..............................................................................................................................................................................

...........................................................................................................................................................

(nest at 90dg corner)...................................................................................................................

The disadvantages are, the nests from the 90dg corners are smaller in size thus the value of the nests are much lower. .............................................................................................................................................................................

More planks are needed to form the small boxes of 16"x40". In a area of 12x12ft which consisted of boxes of 16"x40" there are about 184 90dg corners compared to the same size area if without the boxes formation there are only about 46 90dg corners...............................................................................................................................................................

As such majority nests are in triangle shape...................................................................................................................................................................

Straight.Plank.Type........................................................................................................................................................................

Where as for the Straight Plank Type most nests are in full cup size and the value of the nests are higher. Less usage of wood planks thus saves money. ..........................................................................................................................................................................

Less 90dg corners mean less area for cockroaches, lizards, ticks, etc to hide or make nest. Only 10% of nests from such formation are 90dg corner size.

The disadvantages of Straight Plank Type, it takes a longer period for Swiftlets to adapt to making nest on a flat surface especially for young adult birds. Initially population increase is slow. ...........................................................................................................................................................................

It may take up to 8-12 months for adaptation. Both formations are widely used in farms. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Birds Love Potion - Enhanced Hormone

Finally my Enhanced Hormone is out after trying out many formulations. This birds love potion will encourage birds to build nests in the farms at a faster pace.

This will make the female to secrete the odor that will make male birds go crazy. Thus making them to mate and build nests soonest. The smell of this portion is strong and lasting longer.

It is good for newly built farm that wants to encourage birds to build nest and also for farms that want to increase its bird's population.

This potion could be applied to all edges of a new farm that are yet to install nesting planks. This is what we call pre-application.After planks are installed the portion again is applied onto the planks.

Applying the potion is done with a brush, just a small amount on the nesting planks especially at the corner board or 90dg edges.

(Below picture: I am applying the LOVE POTION on to the planks with a brush)

For pre-application , after all edges have been applied, leave it for few days before installing the planks. ...........................................................................................................................................................................

This is because we want the portion to be absorbed into the wall edges permanently. It also can be applied to the wall as well. Last week I had tried out this potion in few farms in Selangor, including a farm that is about to install the Meranti planks. .............................................................................................................................................................................

We applied the Potion on all 90dg edges. It should show results in few weeks time. For those who are interested to try out this Love potion in their farm for FREE , you may email me at swifjames@yahoo.com . Only few selected farms will be chosen. So don't loose this opportunity!
