以上的照片是有一位讀者的燕屋农场拍的，在安裝了Hi-Nest Gs18高音喇叭之後。幾乎所有被安裝上Hi-Nest GS 18 高音喇叭的上面都建有燕窝和一些有燕窝的標記。

K先生对高音喇叭是相當悲觀的。對他来说，所有的高音喇叭都是相同的。他的燕屋农场开始已经快 2 年的时间了。

一位典型的华人，終究相信燕子會来當一個人的運氣到的时候。對他来说，所有的高音喇叭都是一樣的，唯一不同的是形狀和價格。

他打了很多次电话给我，往往想從我這裡得到提示。他是非常有禮貌和誠實的，我很喜歡他的为人。他曾經告訴我..."James，我的燕屋农场只有20个高音喇叭。是夠嗎?"。我的答覆是 "這就看看它的領域是多大了。如果它只是一個 12x12ft 大小，那么就是足夠了"。

到底 Gs18 高音喇叭有什么特別？我們进入话题之前，我們需要瞭解高音喇叭是什么和怎樣制造的。

一台高音喇叭是由4 個重要的部分組成的，它也是影響產生的聲音。

1） 外部。其中包括 (電壓) 从前面开口和它的底盖。

2） 紙張的材料，粘在銅盤 (薄片)。

3） 銅板。

4） 導線連接銅板到進出口 (+ /-)。

當然，也有很多因素可能影響高音喇叭產生出来的聲音。但是，讓我們先看一看这4个因素。

外層材料 (前面开口）都必須是製作高音的材料。不是所有的塑膠材料都適合製作外層。一些材料，不設計為高音喇叭的外層製作，實際上它將吸收的聲音而不是反彈声音。為了节省成本，許多工厂使用普通的塑膠材料來做封面。对他們来说......"反正有多少人会那么聰明知道這些"。當聲音被吸收的时候，它會扭曲頻率。

紙张的材料也會影響聲音。有許多類型和等級的紙张材料可供選擇的、明顯的，更高品質會是成本的兩倍價錢。高品質的紙張材料是持久的。它有正確的彈性，以產生良好的聲音。由於其良好的彈性它的壽命会是更長。正如我們所知到，燕屋農場里的內部声音是24/7不停的運作。所以優質紙张的材料在高音喇叭的裡面是很重要的，高音喇叭的使用壽命会更长久。往往為了節省生產成本，低品質的紙张材料被使用了。

銅板也大大影響聲音。經驗法則，铜板越大声音越响。除了大小、 厚度、 線束、 等等...铜板的材料本身也會影響聲音品質。再次的，为了生產成本，大多數的工厂製選擇一個更小的銅板。通常它們也有被鍍銅的。

經常，銅線是用於連接的。這是因为它效率在傳輸能量和聲音訊率，但是它們却是很昂貴。為了節省成本，非銅線被使用，也有被鍍銅的。

現在你明白高音喇叭是如何被制造出来的。

Above are some of the pictures taken from a reader's Swiftlet farm after Hi-Nest Gs18 tweeters were installed not long ago. Almost all the installed Hi-Nest GS-18 Tweeters have nests built above them and some have nest markings on them.

Mr.K was quite pessimistic about tweeters. To him all tweeters are the same. His Swiftlet farm has been operated for almost 2 years now.

A typical China-man, who believes birds will eventually come when one has luck. To him all tweeters are the same the only different is the shape and the price.

He had called me many times often wanted to get tips from me. He is very polite and honest which I like the most in him. He once told me..."James, I only have 20 tweeters in my farm. Is that enough?". Well my reply was " it depends how big is that area. If it is a 12x12ft size then it is sufficient".

I asked him to try some of the Gs18 tweeters and that was a couple of months ago. To assure him, I told him  if there is not a single nest built on those Gs18 tweeters you could send them back to me.

And now a couple of months later almost all Gs18 tweeters have nests built on top of them. Words can't express how happy he was. To share his joy he invited me to visit his Swiftlet farm to see it myself. I guess that is what sharing is all about...ha..ha..ha.

Now he is talking..." James, I realized not all tweeters are the same. You really have changed my thinking".

What so special about the Gs18 tweeter? Before we go into it we need to understand what and how a tweeter is made.

A tweeter consists of 4 important parts which influence the sound it produces.

1) The Outer. Which consist of the( Piezo ) front mouth and its back cover.
2) The Paper material which sticks to the copper plate ( wafer).
3) The copper plate.
4) The wires that connect the copper plate to the in/out (+/-) outlets.

Of course there are many more factors that may influence the sound that produced by the said tweeter. But lets look at 4 factors first.

The Outer material (front mouth) has to be of tweeter making material. Not all plastic materials are suitable for making the Outer. Some materials which are not designed for tweeter Outer making would actually absorb the sound instead of re-bounce. In order to save cost many manufactures used normal plastic materials to make the cover. To them..."anyway how many people are smart enough to know this". When the sound is being adsorbed it would distorted the frequency.

The Paper material also influences the sound. There are many types and grades of Paper material to choose from, obviously the high quality ones would cost double the price. High quality Paper materials are durable. It has the right elasticity to produce good sound. Due to its good elasticity it would last longer. As we know Swiftlet farm Internal sound runs 24/7 non-stop. So a good quality Paper material inside the tweeters is important to the life span of the tweeter. Often to save cost of production low quality Paper material is used.

The Copper plate influences the sound significantly. Rule of thumb, bigger the plate louder the sound. Besides  the size, thickness, harness, etc..... the material of the plate itself also affects the sound quality. Again due to cost of production, most manufactures opted for a smaller copper plate. Often they are plated with copper.

Often copper wire is used for connection. This is due to its efficiency in transferring energy and sound frequency, but they are expensive. To save cost non copper wires are used and they are coated with copper instead.

Now you understand how a Tweeters being made.

With the understanding of the above Gs18 selects the best materials to come out with a Tweeter that could produce the best Swiftlet sounds.

Gs18 tweeter was made through the adjustment of the 4 factors above. Gs18 is tuned to the frequency of Swiftlet. It is designed, tuned and produced by people who understand Swiftlet sounds. For sure it is not made for Karaoke use. I guarantee you this.

G先生從一個朋友接手這个1層半的燕屋农场已经有一段时间了。他在养燕这个行业是一个新手。他经过我的部落格 www.swiftletfarmer.blogspot.com认识了我。去年有一天，他決定打電話給我，他知道如果他想要成為成功的燕屋主，他需要一个有經驗和淵博知識在养燕行业的人來指導他。

他投资在燕屋农场因為他要一些能產生收入的投资，尤其是當他退休了之后，這就是他告訴我的原因。G先生無法區分內声和外聲的分别。他也不知道什麼是內部和外部的高音喇叭。這就是他所有的养燕知識的水準。很明顯的到現在，过了这几個月的与我溝通，还有很多次和很多个小時与我喝茶的时间。他現在能够区分那一个是好的燕声，什麼構成好品質的燕窝。太好的进展。

我總是告訴他......"最好的学习方式是問問題"。其實我是一個饑餓問題的人。我相信回答问题將會加強我的知識，它也是對我尚未知道的挑戰。

目前這個燕屋農場有大約80个燕窝。1層半的燕屋农场选择一個開放屋頂的入口洞。那半層就是開放屋頂的地方。它是由輕工业的单位轉換成燕屋农场的。

燕子的数量在此之前从未增加过, 但是在G先生接管了之后，G 先生看到一些改善。在我的劝告之下他换了外声和內聲，使用了激素香氣、 添加了新的高音喇叭等等。

現在他想要更大的變化。他想要做改造。他想要測試他自己的知識和看看他知道多少。

他給我發了這個改造計畫书，並詢問我的意見。嗯......我將與大家分享，我总是相信与更多人分享他獲取更多。

從这里我們可以看到这个画图，燕子從開放屋頂的入口洞飞入环绕区，然后潛下到飛行路徑的地方。從這裡，燕子有兩个選擇，向左或向右。這就看看在這一区燕子的飞行行為。從这个地方燕窝的位置"W"，有40-50个燕窝，它显示燕子更喜歡向左飛。

它還顯示所有的燕窝都建在分區或牆壁的後面，也是受保護區，一个尖銳的90度轉弯。

G先生建議在"A"区開一个洞。這个地方有8个燕窝。我想他要燕子更加容易进入這个地方。通過开了个洞在"A"区，光线的密度會太強。從燕窩的位置它顯示這個燕屋農場的燕子比较喜歡一個較暗的地方。在"A"区开一个洞是行不通的。

把"B"区关闭，然后把"A"区和"D"区打開，直接的光线會滲透到"A"區、 那8个燕窝和18个燕窝在"Y"区會受到影響。

關閉"C"区，"X"区的面積是8.5'要旋转太小，也使这区很難给燕子居住。就是因为这样这里目前僅有2个燕窝。這区需要進行放大，如果想要吸引更多的燕子在這裡做燕窝。

理想的情況下，這個燕屋農場的內部需要變暗，但不是涂上黑漆在牆壁上。一些区分需要被拆下和第二个入口洞(門) 的大小到所有的作窝区需要被变小。

新的洞應开在"X"和"Y"。

"A"和"C"的提议應擱置。

其他的能解決，想像你是一隻燕子。你想要建立一個良好的燕屋农场嗎？思想要像燕子一樣。

SO YOU WANT TO REVAMP YOUR SWIFTLET FARM?

Mr.G has taken over this 1 an a half storey Swiftlet farm from a friend not long ago. He is very new in Swiftlet farming. He came to know me through my blog www.swiftletfarmer.blogspot.com. One day, last year he decided to call me as he knows if he wants to be successful in Swiftlet farming he needs someone who has experience and vast knowledge in Swiftlet farming to guide him.

He invested in Swiftlet farming because he wants something that could generate income when he retires, that is what he told me. Mr.G can't differentiate between internal and external sound. He didn't know what is internal and external tweeter. That is the level of knowledge he has for Swiftlet farming. Obviously now, after many months of communicating with me and many times and many hours of having Teh tarik with me and so on. He now could tell which Swiftlet sounds is good and what constitute a good quality nests. What a good improvement.

I had always told him..." the best to learn is to ask question". In fact I am a person whose is hungry for questions. I believe answering question would strengthen my knowledge and it is also a challenge to what I have yet to know.

Currently this Swiftlet farm has about 80 nests. A 1-1/2 storey Swiftlet farm adopted an Open Roof entrance. The 1/2 storey is where the Open roof is. It is a light industry building converted into a Swiftlet farm.

The Bird population has not increased before this, and after taking over Mr.G saw some improvement. On my advise he has changed the External and Internal sound, applied Hormone Aroma, add new tweeters, etc.

Now he wants more drastic changes. He wants to do a revamp. He wants to test his own knowledge and see how much he knows.

He sent me this revamp plan and asked for my opinion. Well.....I will share with you all as I believe the more one shares the more he gets.

As we can see from the plan, birds fly from the Open roof entrance enter the roving and dive down to the flight path area. From here, birds have 2 choices, to turn left or right. It all depends on birds flying behavior in this area. From the location of the nests in area "W" which has 40-50 nests, it indicates birds prefer flying to the left.

It also shown all nests are built behind partitions or walls which are protected areas, a sharp 90 degree turn.

Mr.G proposed to open an opening at "A". This area has 8 nests. I supposed he wants birds to have an easy access to this area. By having the opening at "A" light density would be too strong. From the locations of the nests it shows birds in this farm prefer a darker area. Having an opening at "A" in not advisable.

Closing up area "B" after "A" and "D" are opened, direct light would penetrate into area  "A", the 8 nests and 18 nests in area"Y" would suffer.

Closing "C", area "X" which is 8.5' too small for maneuvering making this area difficult for birds to stay.That is why this area only has 2 nests so far. This area needs to be enlarged if it wants to lures more birds to build nests here.

Ideally, the internal of this farm needs to be darken but not by painting the walls with black paint. Some of the partitions needed to be removed and the size of second access (doors) to all the nesting areas need to be reduced.

 A new opening should be made at area "X" and "Y".

"A" and "C" proposal should be shelved.

Well the rest you could solve by visualizing as you are a bird. You want to build a good Swiftlet farm? Think like a Swiftlet.

帮助没有經驗的燕子做燕窝 HELPING INEXPERIENCED SWIFTLET TO BUILD NEST

這是另外一種方法可以在燕屋农场增加燕子人口。我曾经在之前的文章有提到關于使用沙爹枝。这就是把沙爹枝裝訂在木板上的結果。

新的燕窝标记可以被看到在沙爹枝上。這个技術誘使燕子尤其是那些年輕的燕子，那些缺乏經驗做燕窝的燕子，可以在沙爹枝上做燕窝。那些沙爹枝的作用為年輕燕子可以抓住的一個平臺或軌道。

出人意料的是，整排個沙爹枝上都有燕窝的標記。這代表著很快將有更多的燕窝被做在沙爹枝上。在此之前，那些沙爹枝已经被浸泡和被喷洒上激素香氣。

從觀察里看到的唾液標記在木板上，它清楚地表明多过一個以上的燕子曾棲息在那沙爹枝上。这通常這是由年輕的燕子棲息，那些第一次做燕窝的燕子。

它被建議沙爹枝應该被訂在每個木板上。（1枝沙爹枝在每一个木板上，4-6尺的長度）。

請千万不要使用回收再用或用过的沙爹枝，因为它們已经吸收了肉和木炭的氣味。

最好使用新的。它們可以被裝訂在2"從木板的底部，还有离角落1-2尺的地方。在我訂上它门的一個星期之前，我把它们浸泡在激素香氣2天，然后在室內晾乾。在沙爹枝被裝訂在木板上後，我会噴上1或2次的激素香氣。

這種技術是大力推薦为新的燕屋农场，那些想要吸引年輕燕子居留和做燕窝。它還可以帮助那些想要增加燕子人口的燕屋農場。

Good Swiftlet farming All!

HELPING INEXPERIENCED SWIFTLET TO BUILD NEST

This is another way to increase nest population in Swiftlet farms. I had posted about the using of Satay stick in my previous post before. Here is the result after Satay sticks had been stapled on the planks.

New nest markings can be seen built on the Satay stick. This technique lures Swiftlets especially young Swiftlets that are inexperienced in building nests to build nests on the Sticks. The Satay stick works as a platform or a track for the young Swiftlets to grab.

Surprisingly, the whole stretch of the Satay stick has nest markings on it. That means there will be more nests built on the Satay stick soon. Prior to this the Satay stick has been dipped and sprayed with Hormone  Aroma.

From the observation of  the saliva markings on the plank, it clearly indicated more than one Swiftlet had perched on the stick  This is often done by young Swiftlets who are first time making nests.

It is recommended a Satay stick should be stapled on every plank if possible. (1 Satay stick on every plank 4-6 foot length).

 Do not use recycled or used Satay sticks as they have absorbed  meat and charcoal smell.

Preferably to use new ones. They are stapled 2" from the bottom of the planks and 1-2 feet from the corner board. The week before I stapled them,  I soaped them into Hormone Aroma for 2 days and dry them indoors. After the Satay sticks are stapled onto the planks spray them with one or 2 burts of Hormone Aroma.

This technique is strongly recommended for new Swiftlet farms who want to attract young Swiftlets to stay and build nests. It also helps Swiftlet farms that want to increase its birds population.

等了幾個月之後, 終於新货超級Hinest 放大器 MBX-52來了。我相信很多使用过这个放大器的人無法抗拒还要拿多幾架。

奇怪的設計被複製 Weird Design Copied

這張照片是由越南的好朋友寄来的。他想要我的意見和評論。它是一个巨大的4層大楼位於西貢的燕屋農場。

我不能说太多因为我对它的内部不是太瞭解而且也没有看过。很好，关于它的外部設計，有幾件事情是我可以在這裡分享的。

讓我們從頂部的入口洞開始。這个燕屋農場選擇的一个狗洞的設計。狗洞的優點是，它減少了光线(耀眼的光)，它還可以使風速变的更慢，而且防止风進入燕屋農場。它很適合那些位於有大風地區的燕屋農場。

通過查看狗洞設計，它似乎已經擊敗了其主要的目的。它已经被切成一半，看起來更像一個"D"形狀。此"D"形狀會不会真的可以吸引燕子呢？答案肯定是"不"。

燕屋主一定在某個地方見過这个设计，可能是一个具有"D"設計的成功燕屋農場，所以他跟隨。

我還記得幾年前在胡志明市我曾见過那裡有一個燕屋農場，那里的燕子通過煙囪飞入早已成放廢的工廠里做燕窝，之后这个放废的工厂变成燕屋農場。這個特別的燕屋農場是相當成功的。據瞭解，在他們把它變成一個燕屋農場之前，燕子已經在這個廢棄的工廠裡做燕窝。這種例子的成功不能被仿效因为燕子已經佔領了工廠。

大概距離這個成功的燕屋農場約有50米的地方有一個燕屋農場具有相似的設計。據瞭解，燕屋主故意仿效这个設計，因為他以為煙囪類型是最好的設計，但是他錯了。

他的燕屋農場过了幾年後还是没有吸引到很多的燕子。從這裡已明確表示類似或仿效的設計將不能保證成功。

"D"形狗洞縮小了飞入环绕区的通道，这样使飛行更加艰难。這會導致飞行旋转变的有限制。燕子会討厭這样，但這並不意味著這个燕屋農場，不一定會有燕窝在不久的將來，問題是，有多少的燕窝和有多快速它可以吸引燕子要留下來做燕窝。

第二，鑒於4層樓的燕屋與樓之間的高度是相當高，這會減少光线達到最底的2樓層。加上高大的狗洞必然最底的2樓層將会在完全黑暗中，因此它將没有燕子居住。

雖然這个燕屋農場看起来很好，有陽臺和門廊，但它的挫折是，它提供了空間给捕食动物来隱藏和歇来埋伏。甚至鴿子和烏鴉也會站在岩壁上，這會嚇唬在黃昏时间归来的燕子。

那麼，這就是我的評論。希望這个資訊會帮到那些有意建立燕屋農場的人。

I couldn't tell much about the Internal as I have not seen it myself. Well, as for the External Design there are few things I could share here.

Let's start from the top the Entrance Hole. This Swiftlet farm opted for a Dog Kennel design. The advantage of the Dog kennel is, it reduces the light (glare), it also slows down the wind  and prevent it from entering the farm. It would be good for Swiftlet farm located  in areas that have strong wind.

By looking the Dog Kennel design, it seems it has defeated its main purpose. It has been cut into half  and looked more like a "D" shape. Does this "D" shape really helps in attracting birds? The answer is definitely "NO".

The owner must have seen somewhere, probably a successful Swiftlet farm with the same "D" design, therefore he followed.

I still remember there is one Swiftlet  farm in Ho Chi Minh city where I had visited a few years ago, where birds flying in through the chimney of an abandoned factory that had been turned into a Swiftlet farm. This particular Swiftlet farm is quite successful. It was understood that the Birds were already making nests in this abandoned factory before they turned it into a Swiftlet farm. This kind of success can't be applied or imitated as Swiftlet had already occupied the factory.

About 50 meters away from this successful farm there is one Swiftlet farm which has the similar design. It was understood that the owner purposely copied the design as he thought the Chimney type is the best design, but he was wrong.

His Swiftlet farm didn't attract many birds after a couple of years. From here it has clearly indicated a similar or a copied design will not guarantee success.

The "D" shape Dog Kennel has narrowed the passage to the rowing area as it makes flying difficult. This would cause restriction in maneuvering. Birds hate this, it doesn't mean this Swiftlet farm would not have nests in the near future, but the question is how many nests and how fast it could attract birds to stay and make nests.

Secondly, given the building of 4 storey and the height between floor is quite high, this would reduce the light from reaching the 2 lower floors. Coupled with the tall Dog Kennel it is inevitable that the 2 lower floors will be in total darkness, hence it would not be inhabited by birds.

Though this Swiftlet farm looks good with all its Balconies and Porches, but the setback is, it provides space for Predator to hide and perch for ambush. Even pigeons and crows would stand at the ledges and this would frighten Swiftlets during home coming at dusk.

Well, here are my comments viewing from a picture from outside. Hope this information would help those intended to build Swiftlet farm.

I have received these pictures from a regular user of Love Potion months ago. I didn't post it because I was out of the country. This Bh owner is from Raub, Pahang. This Bh has been using Love Potion since operating a few years ago.

幾個月前我從Love Potion的长期用户收到這些照片。我没有把它张贴在部落格上因為我不在國內。这个燕屋主是從彭亨州的Raub。這个燕屋农场在一开始就使用Love Potion已经有好几年的时间了。

Located on an orchard land full with Durian trees has its advantage. The Durian season attracts lots of Swiftlet as insects swap the flowers of the Durian trees.

位于一个果園的地方充满榴槤樹有它的優勢。榴槤季節吸引了大量的燕子，因为那些昆蟲在榴槤樹的花朵中。

Love Potion is poured into the black tube to attract birds to make nests. As shown in the pictures nests are built right on top of the black tube. The essence of the success is the hormone in the tube and the material of the tube used.

Love Potion被倒入黑色的管子来吸引燕子做燕窝。如照片中所示，燕窝都被建造在黑色管子的上面。成功的本質就是管子内的激素和使用管子的材料。

This technique is called by many "perfume garden". It was promoted by a blogger friend of mine (Harry). The Bh and Styrofoams  have also been sprayed with Love Potion. By adopting this technique, it brings the Love Potion smell closer to the planks. As we know Love Potion has the ability to lure young birds to stay and build nests and these pictures and experiment have proven it.

As for maintenance purposes the owner  sprayed Love Potion once every 2 weeks.

這个技術被許多燕屋主稱為"香水花園"。它由一個博主朋友(Harry)来促進的。燕屋农场和保利龙也被噴上Love Potion。通過採用這種技術，它把Love Potion的氣味更加接近到木板上。我們都知道Love Potion的能力，它有誘使小燕子居留和做燕窝，而且這些照片和實驗已證明了它。

作为维修的目的，燕屋主每2個星期噴灑一次Love Potion。

Not all tubes or containers can be used for this purpose as some of them are of Plastic,PVC, etc material that will interact with the liquid that poured inside. The chemical reaction of the container and liquid may produce smells that may not be effective to attract birds. So choosing a correct tube or container is important.

不是所有的管子都可以使用为这个目的，一些塑膠、 PVC、 等材料將與倒入裡面的液體進行交互。那些管子和液體的化学反应可能會產生一些不可能有效吸引燕子的氣味。所以選擇一個正確的管子或容器是很重要的。

To be effective, there are 3 keys issue must be followed.

1) The correct type of Hormone aroma to be used. For this Bh, the owner is using Love Potion.

2) The correct type of tube or container.

3) Strategic area to place these tubes.

若要有效果，有3个重要的关键問題必須遵循的。

1） 要使用正確類型的激素香氣。这个燕屋农场，燕屋主使用了Love Potion。

2） 使用正確的管子或容器的類型。

3） 戰略區域來放置這些管子。

Love Potion is poured to refile the tube every 2 weeks. Subsequently spray the whole Bh with Love Potion.

Love Potion每隔2周被倒入管子重新填满。随后把Love Potion噴在整個燕屋农场。

The concept of the above technique is to to bring the Aroma smell closer to the planks so that Birds are lured to make nests on the planks. Therefore, it is important that you know which type of Aroma Hormone and tube to be used.
