I would like to share with all my readers regarding the placement of Hygrometer. I have seen many Hygrometers being placed on the wrong place . To have a good and precise reading it is very important to place them at a right place.
A good and precise reading will help you to identify underlying problems that affect the growth of your farm.
Most farm's owner would place the Hygrometers on the wall at shoulder level. This due to convenience sack. By placing the Hygrometer at the shoulder level one will not get a precise reading.
Hot air rises , therefore the hottest place will be the ceiling. Furthermore the heat from the roof would push up the temp. If you place the Hygrometer at shoulder level the reading will be lower compared to if you put them on the nesting planks.
One reader called me complaining his bird's population has reduced during the hot and dry season. He insisted that his farm temp was good at 29C. I asked him where did he put his Hygrometer? He replied, 3 feet from the floor. It was due to convenience sack where his construction workers left a nail there.
I advised him to place them at the nesting plank and check the temp an hour later then we shall discuss about it when he has the new reading.
He was surprised to find out that the new reading at the nesting plank was 31.5 C. " No wonder" he replied.
Besides that Rh tends to sit at the bottom . Most cases if your Hygrometer placed at shoulder level you will get good reading of Rh. If you placed them at the nesting plank the Rh reading is different. It is always lower and always the opposite of Temp. Wet air is always heavier than dry air.
So make sure you place the Hygrometer at a appropriate place to have a precise reading.
In Swiftlet farming a little changes cause huge differences.
