Low Price High Quality Amp

(with blue led power indication)

( Sd/Usb port ready. High speed reading)
.
.

There are so many Amps in the market. Most were designed not for Swiftlet chirping sound. They were designed for Karaoke use where vocal clarity is priority. Therefore most of them response to frequency at the K or below the K or minus K for vocal purposes.

.

.

Whereas for swiftlet chirping sound it falls on the higher side of the K to 20 Khz. So simply selecting an Amp from the market to use it for your farm is not wise.

.

.

Besides that Amp for Swiftlet farm has to be powerful enough to handle many tweeters. If not powerful enough and when overload occur the Amp will burn. This is very common, after the sound is switched on for couple of weeks and one fine day you visit your farm and discovered the Amp is not running anymore. Perhaps the Amps had burned.

.

.

.

The above picture is a BGB Amp many of my readers are using it. After trying out and tested. I discovered this is the most economical and money for value Amp in the market for Swiftlet sounds.

.

.

Though it has only 2 channels (left & right) the power is much higher than those famous & expensive Swiftlet Amp in the market. Tested it could handle up to 800 tweeters (some even tried 1000 tweeters) (piezo), 400 each for left and right. It can play 24/7 with stable temperature.

.

.

The sound "superb" could match or even better than those that are double the price. That is not all it comes with a build in internal fan to cool the system.

.

.

Rarely do I see Amps with such good features and quality with such price (Rm 390.00 excluding postage ). The power output is 150w + 150w = 300w. The Size of the Amp is 17x13x5”.

If you can't find this Amp in your area you may call me: 012-3173811

The Trend of Building Farm with High Inter-Floor

(high roof design similar to pre-war shop)

(the same building from side view)

(even the new shop lots are designed with high inter-floor)

I've just got back from farm visiting in the North. The weather is hot I guess this is Elnino. During this time it would have rain but not this year. It did rain but it is not heavy enough to cool down the air.

Where as in the Klang Valley it rains heavily and the cloud is getting thicker and it seems that the hot weather is over. Birds love rain and now you could see more birds playing as the humidity is high.

During my visit I discovered something. It seems that there is a trend of building farm with the height of each floor beyond the required standard. This is not new in fact many years ago I had visited farms which have inter-floor height of above 15ft. Reason being Swiftlets like it, the higher it is the better. Secondly to prevent thief.

With such myth it is uncommon to see inter-floor height of more than 15 ft. Another reason being is to copy the pre-war shop’s design as most pre-war shops inter-floor is very high. Not only the height is more than 15 ft but the roof also. This is to reduce heat during the day time thus creating better micro.

Well if based on how and what the pre-war shop has achieved then having high inter-floor would be an added advantage.

Height is important but to a certain extent. If the whole design doesn’t compliment or help in enhancing better micro then having very high inter-floor would not serve any purposes.

It is not that farms that have low inter-floor like 8 or 9 ft will be disliked by birds. In fact there are many farms of 8-9ft height are very successful too.

It has to come in a whole package, everything must be at a certain acceptable level in order for the farm to attract birds to stay and make nests.

Building farm with high inter-floor would push up the cost of construction making the building expensive.

Well some say cost is not an issue here but is it necessary to have a higher than normal inter-floor to make a different?

To me any height from 9-14 ft is good enough. Don’t forget the higher it is the harder for us to harvest. That means you need to spend more time to harvest the same amount of nests.

Beautiful Pictures

Here are the classic pictures of Swiftlets building nests on flat Plywood with wiring attached horizontal across them.

I have had seen these pictures many years ago and had kept them in my PC. Today while transferring some pictures to my external hard disk I stumbled upon these beautiful pictures among thousand that I had kept. I think it would be good to post it onto my Blog.

I am sure many have seen them before but it would be good for those who are new in Swiftlets farming and those who have not seen them before.

Swiftlets can’t perch they hang onto walls, planks, etc as long there are something that their claws could grip they will hang on it. That is why it is uncommon to see nests built on wiring, rough walls, exposed nails and screw, etc.

By looking at these pictures you would understand how important the height of the farm and the lines on the nesting plank are. Some claimed Planks that have no line or groove are better. But these pictures tell otherwise.

I don’t believe in myth but I don’t know you. Pictures prove everything.

Could Number of Swiftlets Entering Farm at Dusk Justisfy the Number Of Nest?

Could number of Swiftlets entering the Entrance Hole before dark justify the number of nest inside the farm? This is another question posted to me by my reader.

Well yes but to a certain extent. Thru my experiences, I would suggest for every 1 nest in the farm they would be approximately 8-10 birds.

Some may argue that for every 1 nest there would be 2 birds. Obviously we know that it needs 2 birds to build 1 nest. Bear in mind birds may stay in farm but they may not build nest instantly. Some might be young birds that are not mature enough to build nests while others may be too old to build one. Some may just stay for couple of weeks and leave later.

I had seen and witnessed it myself farms of having plenty of birds playing and staying but the low number of nests inside the farm surprised me.

There is one noticeable farm in Johor that I had visited not too long ago. The owner cried that all his friend congratulate him for having a successful farm as everyday they see few hundred of bird entering his farm at dusk.

His farm has the most birds compared to other farms around that area. It was a 3 year old farm. While visiting the farm there were less than 20 nests inside. This really happens of cos this is due to some problems in the farm.

So number of birds entering farm at dusk may sometimes fool us. Nevertheless the 1 nest to every 8-10 birds would be still a good guideline for estimating the number of nests without entering farms. Different people may suggest differently but this is my opinion.

Should We Plaster The Walls

Should we plaster the wall? This was the question asked by my reader when I visited his farm last week.

If you ask me I would say yes. The reason for plastering the wall is, to create a stronger structure, better heat insulation, create a smooth surface so that it is hard for predator to climb and so on.

Obviously there are also reasons for not plastering the internal wall. The main on is to retain the moist ( RH ) of the farm. The Clay Brick absorbs water and retains them thus create a higher RH.

So if you have a humidifier in your farm with un plastered Clay brick the water vapor will be absorbed by the bricks thus you could shorten the running time of the humidifier.

The set back is it is easy for predators to climb especial rats. Somehow for me I would prefer plastering the wall and run the humidifiers longer. Well it is up to personal preferences.

Some would argue cost is the whole idea of not plastering the wall. I think that is very silly. If you could spend ten of thousand or few hundred thousand on a farm what is additional few thousand. Sometimes it really doesn’t make sense.

That is why I always say if you want to be a successful farmer you need to have some intelligent.

Spray Love Potion on Tweerters by My Reader

I was drop dead tired yesterday when I came back from the south at about 10pm. My hand phone rang abruptly. I intended not to answer the call but it keeps on ringing and I look at the screen it was from a good friend of mine. In fact he was a reader of my Blog since 2008 and later we became good friends.

Well I told myself it better be a quick one because some who called me could drag me into the conversation for hours? It turned out to be some good discovery and I think it would be good to share it with all my readers.

Hello James, I had something to tell u, something new I had observed and discovered with your Cd sound and Love Potion.

Yes Mr. K.K what have you discovered? It better be good one I had just got back from the South and I am very exhausted.

James, remember you send me an external CD sound and asked me to fix the external sound tweeters at the second entrance and at the nesting room 2 weeks ago. With my extra creativity I sprayed the tweeters and the surroundings areas with Love Potion. You know what? Today I went inside my farm there’re so many birds inside and tens of them are hanging on all these tweeters that I had sprayed with Love Potion. I was shocked to see it.

You Cd sound is dam good and plus the Love Potion it turns out to be perfect match. The birds just go crazy. You should try and see it yourself

Oh Mr. K.K you had discovered something new that is very good. Keep it up. Well I shall try this on my farm.

Thank you K.K for sharing the new technique. Not many are like you.

James, don’t mention all these. In fact I am indebted to you. You have taught me so many things that money couldn’t buy. I still remember how I started of with a farm that was built by a well known consultant that cost more than Rm300k ended with less than 10 nests in 2 years. Your guidance and advice had helped me a lot and turned around my farm from less than 10 nests to few hundred today.

K.K, so I am sure your nests have been increasing.

Yes James, It is increasing I can’t even believe it. Thank you. Sifu James.

And the conversation continues and as I look at my watch we have spoken for almost an hour without noticing. So I told him we should continue this discuss over Tea this weekend.

Hope this would help those that wanted to pull more birds into the deeper areas of nesting. As I had mentioned before the more areas the birds cover or fly to or explore the higher the chances they will make nests and stay.

So be creative you will discover fantastic thing. No trial no learning.

Use Electric to Prevent Predators and Theft

( I paint the Plank black to prevent it from damage by the rain water)

( It is very easy to install. It may cost few thousands ringgit if you as someone to install it for you)

I have been using this in my farms for quite a while and find it very useful. I started using it when I discovered owls perching at the entrance hole of my farms.

I need something not only to scares Predators away but also something that could make them remember so that they wouldn’t perch there again. The current from Wire could burn the Predators.

Since I am making another one for my new coming farm it would be good to show those who wanted to DIY how I make it.

You need a piece of wood those extra Meranti Planks of 6x1” would be good. The length would be according to the width of the entrance hole.

PVC pipes are screwed on to both sides of the plank. Drill holes on both PVC pipes. It depends on how many wires you want to put on the planks. I prefer 6-7 wires which ½” apart from each. Make sure you use Aluminum or Stainless steel wire to prevent corrosion and rust from rain water.

Wires from both ends are pulled tight and use the wire joint to lock them. 3 of the wires are connected to the positive and 3 connected to the negative of an AC/DC converter. For 7 wires then 4 Negative and 3 Positive and so on. The Positive wire and Negative wire have to be placed next to each other, alternately one positive and one negative. Make sure you use a reliable AC/DC converter. I recommend Teletron (you may search the web) there are 6v, 8v,12v and so on.

I use a 12v converter. It is good enough to burn, it may kills smaller predators. You could use a timer to control the converter where you could set the time to switch on the converter.

I switch them on from 7pm to 2 am this is the time Owl hunts.

James

James,

Don't Blame Seminar

(with this it doesn't mean that you will become a successful Swiftlet Farmer. Swiftlets don't give a shit to all these.)

Someone called me today while I was on the way to Seri Kembangan to collect some Electronic items. I have not spoken to this caller before. He politely asked me whether he could ask me few questions.

As usual I replied, “Sure you could ask me anything you want”.

I asked him to hold on so that I could switch on the hand free on my mobile phone.

I told him I think we have not spoken before. He replied, yes you are right I am Mr .H from East Malaysia.

He asked me, James do you organize seminar?

I replied no not now and perhaps in near future….perhaps….

Mr.H asked why you are not organizing seminar now?.

I replied, with the current task that I am undertaking it is already sort of killing me. I have to attend to my own farms which located all over Malaysia, reviving readers’ farms, building farm for readers, building farms for myself to add to my collecting, updating my blog and without forgetting my other businesses that I had involved prior to Swiftlet farming, etc.

If I had to do seminar then it would be the time that I am dam free perhaps fully retirement from the business world.

Then I would give 100% free Swiftlet farming seminar ........and I laughed.

I asked him why are you asking such question?

He replied I had attended almost all seminars that are available including those organized by neighboring countries which held here but when I built my standalone it fails. I had applied all the things that I had learned from these seminars yet my 2 years old farm only has 5 nests.

Mr. James what has gone wrong?

Mr.H you shouldn’t ask me. You should ask the Sifus that organized seminars that you had attended as I don’t organize any seminars. Did you call the wrong person… I laughed….

James, don’t get me wrong I just want to find out why.

I explained to Mr.H, the problem with most people is, once they paid for something they expect miracle.

Once they attended seminars they expect they will be expert soon afterwards. This is very wrong perception. Seminars are just a course of basic things perhaps a beginning of a small percentage of understanding of what Swiftlet farming is. Other than that you have to find it out yourself. Definitely to guide and to teach one to become a successful farmer it need more than 2 to 3 days or a week time. It takes years, a simple one would be “could one attend College or University for a course of 2 or 3 days then afterwards one could become a professional in that field?”

Experiences, intelligent, observance, logical thinking, sharpness are very important if you want to make a successful farm.

Don’t blame those seminars it is you yourself who had perceived and expected beyond what the seminars could give you.

Don’t be overwhelmed with what you had learned. To be a successful Swiftlet farmer it is beyond this.

James I never thought of this .All this while I thought that as long I am equipped with all the information given in the seminars I would be ready to undertake to build a farm that will be successful . I was totally wrong.

We spoke for more than ½ an hour. I hope he gets what I mean.

Use Right Wood. Mould & Fungus will be History

(All QC inspected , no defect and spot. Ready to be delivered to farm. Look at the color. It can't cheat our eyes. You don't need to have a Phd in wood study to know this)

( High end good wood for planks comes with a price but it 's worths it. When it compares with the cost of removing the planks from farm (fungus infested) and to replace them with new ones. What about birds that already stayed in the farm? They may all fly to your neiugbour's farms.)

Last week I was at my wood supplier Sawmill to check the planks that I had ordered before they deliver them.

I had ordered them about a month ago only available now as the demand was high and the Sawmill is unable to meet the demand. Good wood is hard to find low graded one is plentiful in the market that will grow mould and fungus within 6 months of operation. In fact you could get them the next day once you had paid.

While checking the wood I happened to meet a consultant (a big time fellow, name can not mention here) who was there to look for planks too. We talked about mould and fungus on planks and how they come about. He agrees with me that 80% of farms are not using appropriate woods for nesting planks and not appropriate materials for renovation. Therefore these entire problems arise.

There are 3 main reasons for this is 1) The owner wants it cheap believing that as long the farm is built birds would stay. Birds have no preferences to how the farm is being design, the wood type, the formation, etc. 2) Because of the above cheap package and the consultant wants to clinch the deal he has to accept the works and to increase his profit he uses low graded and low quality material. 3) Engaged consultants that are half bucket of water but charging premium price.

While many still finding solutions to solve the mould and fungus probles on their planks on the other hand to some these problems are history.

It could not be eliminated other than prevention. Many came out with all sorts of ideas to eliminate them but later to see them grow back again.

Some even followed some sort of scientific way to eliminate them by applying certain chemical. Well this is good for mould and fungus on certain material but not for wood. By doing this way, I call it wrong diagnose. Unless these planks are use for other purposes other than for nesting Planks.

Furthermore the chemical applied maybe disliked by the birds. In other words fungus and mould may no longer grow on the planks at the same time the birds also don’t make nests there too. So it would be mould and fungus free planks and also birds and nests free farm too. Isn’t that great? Kill all birds with only one stone. Brilliant!

Sometimes farmers are trying to outsmart others by coming out with all sorts of idea that actually cause harm. That is why the fail rate is climbing higher each day.

My advice! Use the right wood for nesting plank then fungus and mould will be history. So why need so much hassle by cleaning and replacing every plank? Isn’t everybody knows prevention is better and cost lesser than to cure them?

In fact all my farms have no mould and fungus problems and I don’t know why there are so many out there still cracking their heads to solve this problem. The fungus problem is already history.

How one can have a successful farm when all the time he is worrying about the planks in his farm that are infested with fungus.

For sure one thing birds will never make nests on planks that are infested with mould and fungus.

So make sure you take the prevention measure.

Cement Board Nesting Planks.

If you think mould, fungus and termite are the problems to the nesting planks then you may want to consider the cement board as nesting planks.

For me I would stick to my 100% pure Dark Re Meranti. For those who can’t get the Dar red Meranti even they pay premium price then cement board would be the next option.

The installation works for the cement board is not easy but for sure one thing it could solve all those mould problems and gap between ceiling and planks is history.

The picture shows a beautifully done nesting plank with cement board.

Having this picture shown those who want to install them would have some idea.

Capture Young Birds With Fake Nests & Love Potion

One of the strategies to attract young birds to make nests in your farm is to have fake nests that has been dipped or sprayed with Love Potion.

Taking of the advantage of the season and with many young birds that leave farms that are too hot, one could capture them with fake nests (make sure your farm has a good micro). It could be any type of fake nests be it Rubber, Silicon, Styrofoam, Plastic, etc as long there are sprayed with Love Potion and being placed at the right area. Young birds that just started to mate love them and would hang on them subsequently the nests making process would start.

Smell plays an important role young birds that are matured and ready to mate would seek nests that have pleasant aroma. This is an instinct of security. Having fake nest that has the aroma would make them stay and make nests faster.

With Love Potion on the fake nests it would reduce the time of adaptation thus the fake nests would be occupied faster especially by those birds that looking for places to make nests.

For those fake nests that have been installed on the planks you could spray on them. Turn the spray pump nozzle to mist type. Press 2-4 burst. For new fake nests that are yet to be installed. Dip them over night with Love Potion and install the next day.

The fake nests that have Love Potion should be installed 6 Inc to 1 ft from the corner. Never install the fake nests on the middle of the plank or more than 1ft from the corner.

The average number of fake nests in farm varies. It depends on the size and the design of the farm. For a 20x70ft farm (one floor) it should have 20-30 pcs then again this number is subjected to the design of the farm.

So what are you waiting for? You should take this opportunity to capture as many young birds as possible.

Don’t forget winner take it all!
