Should We Plaster The Walls

Should we plaster the wall? This was the question asked by my reader when I visited his farm last week.

If you ask me I would say yes. The reason for plastering the wall is, to create a stronger structure, better heat insulation, create a smooth surface so that it is hard for predator to climb and so on.

Obviously there are also reasons for not plastering the internal wall. The main on is to retain the moist ( RH ) of the farm. The Clay Brick absorbs water and retains them thus create a higher RH.

So if you have a humidifier in your farm with un plastered Clay brick the water vapor will be absorbed by the bricks thus you could shorten the running time of the humidifier.

The set back is it is easy for predators to climb especial rats. Somehow for me I would prefer plastering the wall and run the humidifiers longer. Well it is up to personal preferences.

Some would argue cost is the whole idea of not plastering the wall. I think that is very silly. If you could spend ten of thousand or few hundred thousand on a farm what is additional few thousand. Sometimes it really doesn’t make sense.

That is why I always say if you want to be a successful farmer you need to have some intelligent.

Good Farming All!
