Is Your Swiftlets Sound Attracting Bats?

Did you know that the Swiftlet sound that plays at the Entrance hole (Ext) and inside the farm (Int) could attract bats to stay in it?

I bet you never thought of that. It’s all has to do with frequency. If a person who has little understanding about sound frequency and sets the wrong frequency setting during recording that favorable to bats then it would attract large number of bats to enter the farm.

This is what happened to a farm belongs to a Reader of mind from the North.

“James I have Bats problem in my farm. Ever since I started my farm 1 month ago my farm attracted no birds except Bats why? Many birds came and played during the day but they don’t stay. Could you please help me?”

That is no surprise to me. I asked him what sound did he plays in his farm as I knew that he likes to remix his own Swiftlet sound.

I asked him does he knows the sequences of frequency and the frequency setting commonly used to for recording and remixing Swiftlet sound and his reply was “ Not that I know”.

I told him we cannot simply set the frequency according to what we want. It must be within the range liked by Swiftlets. Anything out of that range would attract other flying things like bats, etc.

If a sound played in a farm with the frequency set for Swftlets Bats won’t enter the farm. They cannot tolerate the sound and Bats find it very uncomfortable therefore they would leave.

I had visited farms with Bat’s problems. I advised the owner to change the sound. After changed the sound and couple of weeks later they found all the Bats in their farms were gone and never returned.

If you have Bats in your farm perhaps your sound is the main problem.
