Location, Find a Good Location!

Location determines the future of your Swiftlet farm. Therefore choosing a good location to have a farm built is very important.

It can’t be denied that good farming areas are all in the rural areas that have plenty of green, river and plantation. Such areas produce plenty of insects which are the source of food for Swiftlets.

Industrialized and developed area is not suitable for farming though some may argue that there are quite many farms in such area.

Swiftlet farm in such area faces food shortage and the growth is affected. Stagnation is one of the problems, there might be nests in the farms but the growth is slow compared to those that are located in rural areas.

Kuala Lumpur was once inhabited by many birds the C.esculenta and A. maxima (black nests) when it was not as developed as now. In fact I suspected there are even A. fuchiphagus but I guess the research was only interested on the feeding pattern and didn’t focus on the nests.

It is evident that development kills the habitat and wipe out the Swiftlets population. Therefore all successful swiftlet farming towns are located in smaller town that are less develop.

The above research information was extracted from the Web.
