They have been terrorizing the Swiftlet farm for months
without being noticed. With its sheer speed of diving into the entrance hole, the CCTV cannot detect them. Smaller than Owl
slicker and faster than Eagle their
presence cannot be detected other than observing the traces
they had left behind.
In just one night, 2 Night Hawks were caught using the
deadly bait and trap system. They don’t stand on poles or at the entrance hole
like Owls, therefore observating their presence is difficult.
The Night Hawk is the biggest threat comparing to Owl. They
attack preys in the air. Better maneuver, smaller in size and with speed
Swiftlets have no chance to escape.
Mr.T Swiftlet farm Bird population has not increased for many months. He didn’t see any Owl flying into his farm. For the past 2 weeks, he had been checking the recording of the CCTV, but it shows no shadow of any intruder. He is very confident his farm is clear of predator attacks until the bait and trap system was placed in his farm.
The Bear trap is tied onto
a mouse cage. A small chick is put inside the cage to attract the Hawk.
With the live chick moving in the cage it attracts Hawk or any predator in the farm.
It is similar to the one that I had written about which is
using mouse glue to stick the predators.
But this Bear trap is more deadly….no escape.
Good Swiftlet Farming All!
