HOT WEATHER PUSHES UP NESTS PRICE

The weather is extremely hot. Could you believe it is 45dg C. You could fried eggs on the concrete pavement at your Swiftlet farm.

Now your Swiftlet farm is put to a test. Is your Swiftlet farm built with 2 layered bricks wall? Did you put styrofoams between those walls? If you had followed my advice you shouldn't be worrying about all these insulation problems. Your hard earned money which you had  invested into Swiftlet farming is being protected now. It is better than purchasing an insurance plan.

If you didn't, then you have big problems. The bird's population will reduce as birds  would migrate to Swiftlet farms that have a better internal environment ( cooler, lower temperature). Perhaps migrating to your neighbour's farms.

The quality of the nests is affected. Smaller nests, dirty with more feathers, badly shaped size, etc....the list go on.

Most Swiftlet farm owners had never thought of this when they built their Swiftlet farms. To most all Swiftlet farms are the same. As long there are nesting planks, as long there are tweeters and sounds, as long it is dark enough Swiftlets would stay and build nests.

Swiftlet farming is a long term investment. It stretches from 5 to 10 years and beyond. We plan, solve and  anticipate  the common problems the farm faces monthly and beyond...like drought. Swiftlet farms should be built to withstand the unexpected weather.

There are pros and cons about this hot weather. To some, it is an opportunity, to other this is a disaster.

Raw nests prices had increased above Rm 3000.00 per kg. For those who know how to manage their Swiftlet farms are laughing to the bank. I anticipate it would keep increasing as long the hot weather continues.

The hot weather had reduced the outputs of Raw nests. Quality white and well-shaped nests are lesser now. The good quality ones could fetch a very high price and there are in high demand now.

Good Swiftlet farming All!
