The April month's harvest still considered good even though the weather was extremely hot. In fact, there is no significant decrease in the total weight (kg) of nests. What could be observed is the nests are a bit dry, but it can not be easily differentiated if one had never compared it to the previous harvests.
I took some of the nests to my business partner processing center to have them cleaned. The staff there are very skillful. Some of them have been doing this for more than 10 years.
There are many types of cleaned Nests ( finish product) in the market. They could be easily seen at Chinese Medical halls. There are 2 most common cleaned nests in the market which are in great demand now. One which is thinner and there are gaps between grains. This is very well accepted in China and in great demand.
Another one is thicker, they are no gaps between the grains. They are more compact and all the nests cellulose are tightly held together. Often the number of nests per each kilogram is higher than the previous.This is also sought after by many.
Personally, I would prefer the later. Well, obviously we would provide what customer wants. In term of nutritional values both are the same.
The cleaned nests are to be sent to China.
