“Hi Sifu James, after changing to your HP-12XH internal and Tornado-X Swiftlet external sound for 3 months the number of nests has increased from 100 to 162. I was so surprised and couldn’t believe it. I asked my workers to recount them three times. I don’t trust them as I know they were not good at calculation. Then I count it again myself, twice, indeed it is 162 nests in total. That means increased of 62 nests in 3 months. I was speechless”.
This is what Mr.T told me through our telephone conversation. His Swiftlet farm started sound 4 years ago. A 2 storey shop lot located in Muar, Johor. The top floor was converted into a Swiftlet farm. He built the Swiftlet farm by himself. Learning from books, local Sifus, friends, online, blogs and so on.
It wasn’t so good after 3 years the number of nests still below 100 pieces. It was struggling to reach 90 pieces of nest and it remained at 90 to 100 nests for almost a year. Then he came to know about my blog. It was last year. It was through a friend’s recommendation. He started to call and whatapps me after reading my blog.
I still remember he asked many silly questions. That is what I was interested about. Silly questions challenged me. Because it is not common. I wanted questions that could make me think beyond just the basic of Swiftlet farming. When I say basic you know what I mean….temperature below 30c, Rh 75-90%,etc…
I had advised him to install some partitions and removed those that are not needed. Change the Internal and External sound and use Love Potion.I taught him to reposition all Internal tweeters.
He was quite pessimistic. He's afraid after changing the sounds Swiftlets would fly away and migrate.
I assured him this will never happen. I told him, even some of my Swiftlet farms that have more 2000 nests we still change sounds. This is to prevent stagnation. But make sure the sounds come from a reliable source. There are so many sounds in the market now claiming that it could do wonders and so on. We do know what they recorded in the sounds. Some may frighten birds.
If you want the number of nests to increase you have to do something. Don’t sit and wait. Those days of sitting and wait are over. Now we are breeding Swiftlets in a competitive environment. Winners take all and losers left with nothing. Why do I say breeding Swiftlet? Yes, we all are breeding Swiftlets. All Swiftlets came from Swiftlet farms ( Birds Houses).
If you know how to take care of your farms, providing a better internal environment, automatically Swiftlets would breed faster.
Seeing is believing. After witnessing the result of his Swiftlet farm. Now he is more confident than before.
I am happy for him too. When his farm is doing well that means it’s providing more places for more Swiftlets to stay and breed. In other words, his farm is helping to create more life, (young swiftlets) indirectly I am the person who helped him and I shared the good “karma” too.
