小燕屋農場 Vs 大燕屋農場

看起來现在許多人都在修建小的燕屋農場尺寸大概是20x50或18 x 40ft左右。 一些是2層樓，一些是3層樓。

Small Swiftlet Farm Vs Big Swiftlet Farm

Now it seems that many people are building small Swiftlet farms that measure around 20x50 or 18 x 40ft. Some are of 2 storey and some are of 3 storey.

This is what Mr. T told me when we had dinner yesterday. Mr.T is a contractor from Johor. He had built many successful Swiftlets farms and has used my products. Yesterday he was in town and insisted that I have dinner with him.

“James, are you in town?”

“Yes Mr.T, I am. Why? Can I help you?”

“James, I come all the way here to have dinner with you..ha..ha..”

“That’s good. I glad to hear that. So where is the place that you would like to have dinner?”

“James, same place lah where else?”

He is a hilarious person who likes to joke. He was here to see few Nest processors and the same time pay me a visit.

While we were having dinner he asks my opinion and advises on small sizes swiftlet farms. He said many people have requested him to built Swiftlet farms that are smaller than the ordinary sizes of 20x70 or 20x80sf. The reason being it is cheaper, faster to build and needed fewer materials.

He asks my opinion on this, well as for cost involved he is right but whether a small Swiftlet farm could attract more birds than a bigger Swiftlet farm that is definitely arguable.

To me there is no standardization in Swiftlet farming. All depended on the design of a particular farm. This includes the internal set-up and the materials use.

It doesn’t mean smaller is better than bigger and vice versa. It is how the internal environment being controlled. This is what I’ve explained to Mr.T.

Control of light density is evitable in smaller farms creating brightness problem as the light could reach the very end of the farm.

To avoid this many erected partitions to reduce the brightness thus affecting the flying path of birds. Imagine for a 20x 50-60ft how many partitions could one put inside. Bear in mind the roving and the interholes have taken a sizable area.

Unless one is very skillful and know very well on how birds fly and their limitation then having a small farm shouldn’t be a problem.

This doesn’t mean bigger Swiftlet farms are better. It has it limitation too.

Though cost is one of the criteria in building Swiftlet farm but it is not the absolute decision.

We discussed for more than 4 hours and only left when we were sort of being chased out by the restaurant staff. The staff showed us the bill without requesting.

So it is not a matter of big or small it is how you made them.

差不多有2年的時間只有5個窩，位於Raub， Pahang的這個燕屋農場。 到現在 未有新的燕窩或增加。 燕子似乎避免這個燕屋農場。 沒有新的燕子來玩。

T先生，這個燕屋農場主幾乎做了一切。 他改變了聲音，嘗試許多类型的芳香等等，沒有一樣是成功的。

Aerosol Poisoining in Birds 濕劑對鳥類的毒化

This morning I was surprised to receive an email from Mr.L asking me to check the link below. He wants my comment on this. http://www.petmd.com/bird/emergencies/poisoning-toxicity/e_bd_fumes_and_aerosol_poisoning

It seemed that the gases and the propellant mixtures in any types of canister (aerosol) are fatal to birds. In many European countries Aerosol products are totally banned. Well if I have to go further it may affect those Swiftlet farm’s Aromas that packed in the canister.

All canisters ( aerosol) need gas and propellant mixture to create combustion to spray the liquid out. These gases are toxic and harmful and may cause dead. So having dead birds in farm is uncommon..

A Swiftlet farm internal is considered an enclosure area with little ventilation. The fume from canisters is fatal to birds. That’s why many Swiftlet farms above workshop that uses spray paint often not successful.

Well I don’t want to comment about it further as my duty is not to comment on other people’s product.

Aerosol Poisoning in Birds

Fumes And Aerosol Poisoning

Many fumes and other aerosol poisons that affect your bird can be found either in your home, or outside it. From your cookware, to your carpet freshener, the fumes not only irritate your pet bird, but can poison it.

Symptoms and Types

You will know if your bird has suffered from fumes or aerosol poisoning because it will have difficulty breathing, tremors and other neurological symptoms. In severe cases, there may be sudden death. Unfortunately, the time between the bird exhibiting symptoms and death, is usually short.

Causes

Cookware with coated surfaces can create poison fumes. This includes cookware of the non-stick variety -- surfaces coated with Teflon, Silverstone, Tefzel, and other fluoropolymers. Other household appliances coated with fluoropolymers include bakeware, some types of heating lamp bulbs, self-cleaning ovens, and irons.

When heated to 240 degrees Celsius (464 degrees Fahrenheit), the fluoropolymers begin to vaporize and release acidic fumes, which can poison your bird. It is important to note: these are normal cooking temperatures. Fluoropolymers are not the only causes for fumes or aerosol poisoning in birds. Your bird can also be sensitive to aerosol fresheners (air, carpet, etc), spray disinfectant, insect killers, etc.

The fumes from burning plastics (like the kind which melts in a microwave oven), new heating duct system, or smoke from fire can also release fumes and aerosol poisons.

Treatment

Normally, these types of fumes or aerosol poisons prove fatal for the bird, as they do not display any symptoms. However, if you notice your bird exhibiting any difficulty in breathing, give it fresh air and bring it to a veterinarian for immediate attention.

Prevention

You can prevent your bird from inhaling fumes or other aerosol poisons, by keeping it near a fresh air source while cooking or spraying the house.

After almost 2 years there are only 5 nests in this Swiftlet farm which located in Raub, Pahang. Since then there have never been any new nests or increase. Birds seem to avoid this farm. There were no new birds come to play.

Mr. T, the owner of this farm had done almost everything. He had changed the sound, tried many types of Aroma and so on without any success.

I visited this Swiftlet farm few months back and revamped it. Those walls that needed to go have to go. I enlarged the entrance hole to make it easy for the birds to come in.

I increased the number of tweeters and intensively use Love Potion . I advised Mr. T that he needs to do it once and for all. Or he could sit back and watch the 5 nests for the next five years.

I changed the External and Internal sound with Gezzelion Star and add a Hex tweeter on top of the roof.

Since almost 2 years without a single increase in nest Mr. T should not wait anymore to revamp his farm.

Last week Mr.T called me.

“James there are 4 new nests (full cup) in my farm and many new birds dropping. I am so surprised .How come after 2 years there is not even 1 single nests but within 3 months there are 4 nests now .Thank you very much James.”

I am happy for him.

I always believe if one does it correctly no matter how the birds will come and stay and Make nests.

Tell Everybody It is Bad, So All Birds will come to our Farms

I did write about how a reader of mine told me that one of his closest friends which he considered as blood brother trying to hide and didn’t want him to know about swiftlet farming. It was in last year article if I could remember.

They were childhood friends and went to the same school. Even as they work they shared the same rented house until one of them got married.

Now they have their own family and had ventured into different businesses but they still meet once a while as both had settled down in different state.

Mr.L from North told me, if I could remember, that his blood brother had ventured in Swiftlet farming. Every time they meet he would ask his blood brother how is his farms doing, His reply was not very good and he advise Mr.L not to go into it or he would regret.

After many years his blood brother still advise him not to get involved but yet his blood brother still building and acquiring more farms. From 1^st farm in few years ago till today he has more than 10 farms according to Mr.L. Yet every time Mr.L asks him about his Swiftlet farms he still claims “No good, Swiftlet farming is a lousy investment, don’t go into it and so on”.

Mr.L told me he senses something fishy here. If swiftlet farming is so bad why he has more than 10 farms in just few years time and keeps on building new ones.

Finally Mr.L discovered that his blood brother is doing very well in swiftlet farming but he doesn’t want Mr.L to know about it. Mr.L was very disappointed that his so called blood brother lying about it all this while.

It is a concept of “Less man more Share More Man less Share”. I call it a Syndrome of Fear and Selfish. (Shouldn’t be fear we should share guys) In Swiftlet farming anything could happen. People would do anything for the benefits of themselves. They would sacrifice anything or do anything with no limit as long it meets their objectives.

Well this is not new, another one was couple of weeks ago while I was in the North of Perak visiting a farm. The owner Mr.C had invited me to see his farm as he was a regular user of Love Potion. His farm has progressed very well after using Love Potion. The good progress has been continued since 8 months ago.

Out of guilt Mr.C felt bad about what actually happened and confessed to me as I had tough him many things and helped him to solve many farms problems. He was like a disciple of mine.

He told me he had recommended and insisted his friend who has a swiftlet farm which is not progressing well to use it. His friend is often vocal in the forums. After few months Mr.C asked his friend whose initial name is Mr. K (I can not reveal the real name here as we are ethical people), Mr.L told me what Mr.K. had told him and he was surprised.

“How is your farm after using Love Potion Mr.K? ……asks Mr.L”

Mr. K replied, “Dam good, Marvelous, fantastic…the nests grow is improving please don’t tell anyone we are using Love Potion”.ok? If people ask us , tell them it’s lousy. I will tell everyone is it lousy”

“Why want to do that Mr.K?”

“So no one use it and we can take people young birds mah”

“Wah….like that ah….erred Mr.C.

I was shocked to hear that too but having long enough in Swiftlet farming this comes no surprise to me.

I hold back for awhile and ask Mr.C so your friend Mr. K ever since had been using love Potion and a strong critic of Love Potion? Mr. C replied, I think so, but he keeps on telling everyone not to use Love Potion and anyone asks him he sure denies it.

I told Mr.C your friend’s name sound familiar as I had great numbers of order from this area. Is your friend’s name and tel no like “this”. I showed Mr.C the name and tel number on my mobile phone book.

Mr. C checked his mobile and the number matches. So this is the guy…lah… He is a regular user too and very vocal in forums. I told Mr. C there are all sorts of people in this world. Let it be anyway he is a regular user of my product. If fact I should thanks him for free publicity that I don’t have to pay a single cent.

That is not all, the next day when I came back out of curiosity I checked my order record books that with tel no and address. I almost drop dead, this guy order great number of Love Potion monthly without fail till today but tell everyone not to use it. I don’t know should I Love him Or Hate him…ha..ha..ha..ha..ha

他感謝我给他解釋关于芳香在燕屋農場的作用。 他知道很少關於芳香的重要性。 我勸告他讀我的部落格。

While I driving back home yesterday from the East. Someone from the North called me and asked where can he get some bird’s dropping for his new farm. I told him putting birds’ dropping in farm is something history to me as I don’t do that anymore.

I asked him didn’t you read my blog? He replied, “No I got your phone no. from a friend”.

He insisted, therefore I advise him if he wants to get them he should get it from successful farms around his new farm.

He claimed that he can’t get it from them as most of the farm’s owner their reluctant to sell it to him and therefore he wanted to get it from somewhere far away.

I told him didn’t you get my point? …he was muted…and replied no..Sir.

I explained, no point of getting Birds’ dropping from farms that are located few hundred Km away. You are not attracting birds from few hundred Km away. Your new farm survival relied on the young birds from farms around your area. If you want to get birds dropping make sure you get it from farms around your area that is what I told him.

Then he asked, “James you don’t put birds dropping in all your new farms?” My reply was, “No I don’t do that”.

He asked again, “then what did you put in your farm?” I replied, “I just spray Love Potion and now many farms are doing that too”.

I explained to him, Love Potion smell makes new and young birds that come into the farm feel comfortable thus making them stay. It is also good for farms that already have nests. It has been used in Swiftlet farms all over Malaysia with positive results as well as countries of South East Asia.( Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia and Laos.)

We’re facing more and more challenges everyday as more and more new Swiftlet farms are coming up. If we didn’t evolve and remain the same and followed the same old traditional ways of farming we are going to be losing out to new Swiftlet farms.
