While I was in S'wan I came across a very unique farm which is located in a shopping complex.
Well every where is possible for Swiftlet farming provided there is a big swiftlet population.
What really impressed me was the adaptation of Swiftlets to such environment. The Birds have to fly into the complex first in order for them to enter the farm. There are 2 entrances but most birds prefer the one on the 1st floor of the complex where they have to fly into the corridor before reaching the farm.
They are not afraid of human activities around. The corridor has became their roving yard.
Info from source, this farm is quite successful. So this has shown that huge population of birds is important. With huge population and good location no matter how complicated the farm is birds still come in to nest.
Some of these farms had started many years ago. It is a bit hard now to have the same result if one has to start one like this.
Good Luck!
