Building another Swiftlet farm for my reader. A 3 storey building with only the top floor converted into a Swiftlet farm.
The top floor is difficult to get tenant. Even if it does often the rental is low. So Mr.D decided to turn it into a Swiftlet farm.
He is a joyous and easy going person. He said even with few nests a year he is happy. He doesn't expect much. All he wants is.... as long as his family could consume them he is satisfied. He takes it as a bonus since the top floor has been vacated for many years.
Shop lot always has it advantages as both sides of the building are protected and shielded from heat of the sun.
The cost of converting is very much lower and it only takes few weeks to complete.
No worries of predators like Owl, Musang, Bat, etc. unless located very near plantation.
No worries of thief.
Stand alone located in plantation are often without water and electricity supply. They use Solar panels to generate electricity to play the Sound system. This is very troublesome as sometimes the voltage generated is not sufficient during rainy and cloudy days. These are the important days where young birds come out in large numbers to play during rainy and cloudy days. If the Sound system can't function due to low voltage the Swiftlet farm will lose it advantages.
While some are refraining from converting Shop Lot into a Swiftlet farm due to some so called regulations which has been imposed and later abandoned and again imposed..ding..dong..for the past 20 years which I anticipated it will go for the next 100 years (Ding Dong and Ding Dong again).
While many are waiting for a clear implementable regulation Mr.D could be harvesting many many kgs of Edible Birds Nests.
