I was in Melaka rushing all the way back as I have to meet up with my reader Mr. T from
It was so rush I didn’t have the time to go home to bath before picking him up at Holiday Villa Subang. Luckily it was near where I live.
I picked him at the hotel and told him out for coffee. He told me that he was very happy to see me and indeed he had longed for this meeting.
While I was driving I told him Mr.T you may ask as many questions as you wish, thousand questions no problem. I shall answer them all. Hope I can not answer some of them because so far there are yet a question that I can answer we both laughed….
We practically talked about A-Z of Swiftlet farming, the history of
Mr. T has a 3 storey stand alone farm. This farm of 1 yr old has 150 nests now and he thinks it is quite slow. I replied some farmers hardly have 10 in 1 year.
He was curious to know why all nests were built at the 1st floor.
He asked why all nests were not built on the top floor and ground floor. It was a good question I replied. Obviously most would have though they already knew the answer the 1st is cooler and darker and has the best condition.
But that is not the answer it is beyond that I explained. Why birds built all nests on the 1st floor? Wouldn’t it be good if all nests were in top floor first and then to build nests on 1st and ground floor would have been automatic since it has the best condition.
I told him why didn’t initially when you construct the farm you make sure the condition of the top floor is as good as the 1st floor then your farm would have nests in all floors.
If all nests started at top floor that means the brightest and the hottest place are of no problem to the birds then the 1st and the bottom would attract birds to build nests there easily.
Bear in mind not all floors are of the same condition. Normally the top floor is harder to control. If you could control the top floor then what is 1st and bottom floors.
He replied, I had never though of it.
I replied, well you are not the only one. People tend to think inside and within a scope only few would think beyond and outside the scope.
James, I understand now replied Mr. T.
I told him probably I would be in
A few hours discussing is like few minutes when it comes to Swiftlets Talk. Time passes fast. After we finished our coffees and I send Mr.T back to the Hotel. I told him if you have anything to ask you can always call or email me.
Looking forwards to see him again.
Good Farming All.
