( Some of the farms in the area) Mr.K of Perak waited anxiously for me at B. Datoh a small old fishing town. I had been there many times often for fishing. Well I could say indeed a very potential area for swiftlet farming. Way back in 1997 a friend of mine had asked me to JV with him but the JV didn’t go thru. Since then 12 years had passed. Those days one would hardly know what swiftlet farming is.

Mr.K had called me few times wanting to take me to view a place where he is interested to purchase an old industry shop lot. It looks like there are no industry activities here and most Shop lots were abandoned.

Obviously the price was good (dam good) but Mr. K afraid that his decision may not be good and he needs second opinion. That was how we hooked up at B. Datoh to view this place.

I did a geographical survey on this area and the result was fantastic. It was surrounded by green lung thousands of acres of oil palm trees. That is not all it is also surrounded with rivers and deltas. It is hard to find all good things in one package.

After that I did a bird test within minutes hundreds of birds came. By looking at the way they reacted and fly these were all young birds. They really need a place to stay and make nests.

The geography of this place is good for Swiftlet farming. In fact there are already few farms here. There are all very low profiles. I supposed not many people notice about this place as it is located inside away from the main road.

By looking at those farms I can tell they are doing pretty well.

“I ask Mr. K how you come to know about this place? “

“James, one of my friend has a farm here .He advised me to buy one here.”

“Mr.K, then why do you need me to come and see since your friend said it’s a good place”?

“James I want to be certain as I know even in a good place if one does not have the skill it will be hard for him to entice the birds to the new farm. I need your advised on setting up a farm.”

I was very happy to hear that. Mr. K was a retired teacher. He has a very unique way of doing things. He always believes in practical fact definitely no myth or play- play for this aggressive retired teacher.

This is his first farm and he wants to do it right the first time.

I salute him for this because I have came across many people who built their first farm on a trying out basis. Later to discover birds don’t stay and make nests they will blame it on many unrelated things.
For this light Industry lot, my suggestion to Mr.K was to be built a concrete floor so that it will have 2 floors. The size of this industry lot is equivalent to 2 common shop lots sizes. The inter section will further divided into 4-2 sections.

The side walls that are of Zinc sheet will be insulated with clay bricks. The zinc roof will be removed or a second layer to be built to reduce heat……….

我非常得愉快得知K先生是一位退休老師。 他有一個非常獨特的做事方式。 他明確地相信實用的事實，這位積極的退休老師決不相信神話或戲劇。
這是他第一個燕屋農場，並且他要第一次就做的對。 我向他致敬，因為我有見過不少燕屋主，修建了他們的第一個燕屋農場根據試驗的依據。 自后發現燕子不要停留並且不要做窩，他們將事情責備在許多無關的事上。
對于這些轻工业單位，我對K先生的建議，將修造另一個水泥地板，以便它有2個地板。 這工业單位的大小相當于2個商店。 相互部分將促進划分成4-2個部分。
鋅板料的墙壁將用黏土磚來隔層。 將去除鋅屋頂或修造另一層來减少热度..... 。
