Someone called me today while I was on the way to Seri Kembangan to collect some Electronic items. I have not spoken to this caller before. He politely asked me whether he could ask me few questions.
As usual I replied, “Sure you could ask me anything you want”.
I asked him to hold on so that I could switch on the hand free on my mobile phone.
I told him I think we have not spoken before. He replied, yes you are right I am Mr .H from East Malaysia.
He asked me, James do you organize seminar?
I replied no not now and perhaps in near future….perhaps….
Mr.H asked why you are not organizing seminar now?.
I replied, with the current task that I am undertaking it is already sort of killing me. I have to attend to my own farms which located all over Malaysia, reviving readers’ farms, building farm for readers, building farms for myself to add to my collecting, updating my blog and without forgetting my other businesses that I had involved prior to Swiftlet farming, etc.
If I had to do seminar then it would be the time that I am dam free perhaps fully retirement from the business world.
Then I would give 100% free Swiftlet farming seminar ........and I laughed.
I asked him why are you asking such question?
He replied I had attended almost all seminars that are available including those organized by neighboring countries which held here but when I built my standalone it fails. I had applied all the things that I had learned from these seminars yet my 2 years old farm only has 5 nests.
Mr. James what has gone wrong?
Mr.H you shouldn’t ask me. You should ask the Sifus that organized seminars that you had attended as I don’t organize any seminars. Did you call the wrong person… I laughed….
James, don’t get me wrong I just want to find out why.
I explained to Mr.H, the problem with most people is, once they paid for something they expect miracle.
Once they attended seminars they expect they will be expert soon afterwards. This is very wrong perception. Seminars are just a course of basic things perhaps a beginning of a small percentage of understanding of what Swiftlet farming is. Other than that you have to find it out yourself. Definitely to guide and to teach one to become a successful farmer it need more than 2 to 3 days or a week time. It takes years, a simple one would be “could one attend College or University for a course of 2 or 3 days then afterwards one could become a professional in that field?”
Experiences, intelligent, observance, logical thinking, sharpness are very important if you want to make a successful farm.
Don’t blame those seminars it is you yourself who had perceived and expected beyond what the seminars could give you.
Don’t be overwhelmed with what you had learned. To be a successful Swiftlet farmer it is beyond this.
James I never thought of this .All this while I thought that as long I am equipped with all the information given in the seminars I would be ready to undertake to build a farm that will be successful . I was totally wrong.
We spoke for more than ½ an hour. I hope he gets what I mean.
Good Farming All!
