If everything in the farm has been done properly the Swiftlets would build nests everywhere. That included areas which has no nesting planks.
Often many Newbies wonder how come they have done the best but waiting for the first nest in their farms take so long while in successful farms nests are found everywhere.
Don’t compare the more you compare the more you would be disappointed. Bear in mind you are new in this industry and your knowledge is limited. Though you have put in whatever you know but “whatever you know” might be limited knowledge.
Strive to understand the basic, what is needed in a Swiftlet farm. Understand not only how it should be done but also the underlying circumstances that would affect the whole farm if one or two of the important factors are not being controlled or done properly.
It is beyond just following a checklist and have them all marked and your farm will be on the road of success. It is not like that in Swiftlet farming.
If it is that easy then I wouldn’t be here writing teaching and giving advice on how a good farm should be done.
After visited many farms from those that have less than 5 nests in 5years to those that have more than 3000 nests in 4 years. This really gives me ideas on how to narrow down the gap between them. Knowing the successful rate in Siwftlet farming stood at 20% if something could be done to improve the percentage to 30% I would be happy.
Sadly the rate of increase of new farms that are done by DIY or unskilled consultant is so fast that it makes the number of successful look small.
If you understand the whole concept and the important factors of a successful farm and what constituted this then it wouldn’t be that hard to build a successful farm.
One of the good examples is a farm of a good friend of mine Mr. Zam, a 3 storeys (20x 70) Stanalone in Kelantan. Operated for 8 months now and has 180 nests (full cup). He started off like everyone else “Newbie” knows very little about Swiftlet farming. Few years back he emailed me after knowing me thru a forum ever since then we became very good friend.
I still remember before he built this farm. We have Teh Tarik and discuss about the design before it was built. As usual the height per floor, the material, the design and so on. In fact the design was one of my favorites.
Today just after 8 months there are so many nests. It was using the cheapest and easiest way to build. He also uses Love potion. He asked my advice whenever he encountered problems. He has learned a lot. He started off like everyone else’s and now he owns a successful farm.
So do it correctly the first time as we cannot afford mistakes. Mistakes cause money and waste time. Understand the basic and have a good design you won’t be far from having a successful farm.
Good Swiftlets Farming All!
