“James, Thanks for your compliment. I depend totally on Gs9, Hypno 5 and Love Potion as I always believe that the three sense of swiftlet (i.e. sight, smell and hearing/echoing) must be very well develop in order to detect their food (i.e. flying insects) in the sky. We can tackle the swiftlet's hearing and smell through Gs9, Hypno 5 and Love Potion. If we could also find out what they like to see, then we may help to reduce the BH's failure rate. I manage to get 18 patches of Bird Shit within 30 days and some patches are getting bigger and bigger.”

This is one of the many emails from my readers who are using the Love Potion combined with the Gs/Hypno sound.
He wants to know whether this is a good sign for his new Swiftlet farm which is located in a competitive area as he has not seen other Bhs to compare with.
I told him I have visited many failed and sick bhs, some only have 1 or 2 nests after 3 years. Some had operated for 6 months but can’t find a single patch of birds shit in it. Some had few patches of bird shits but the patches size never increased.
In his case what more could he ask for? I told him if he had created a good internal environment and put them under his control then in a very short period of time he would see nest markings.
His Bh in S.Petani, Kedah. This is his 1st Bh and he wants to make it right the first time and he can’t afford to make mistake. Well this is everybody wishes because investing in Swiftlet farming is not cheap.
The first month of operation is very important. Observation is vital. During this period from observation we would know whether the Bh is in the right track. The reading from the Hygrometer would tell us the conditions of the internal environment. If the reading is not favourable we must do something to rectify it. Otherwise it won’t attract birds to stay.
The Birds shits tell tales… don’t take them likely. If you can’t find any Birds Shits in your new Bhs then your Bhs are in big trouble.
Birds have to stay or clinch long enough on the planks or the tweeters in order to create a big patch of dropping below.
If the patches are small in sizes and there are only few patches then it is not a good sign. All these are the indication of how well you have built a Bh.
Though you may see many birds playing at the entrance hole when you first switched on the sound but this doesn’t mean your Bh will be successful. What we want are birds to stay and make nests not just come and play and leave later.
I am sure many would be excited when they see many birds circling around the entrance hole but most important is to have birds fly deep into the nesting area. In other words it is better to find droppings at the deeper sections of the Bh than around the roving.
During the first month of operation often birds won’t fly deep into the nesting areas unless proper planning has been done. Often my readers would ask what they should do? Or what should they put inside their Bhs. My reply was simple, use Love Potion and GS/Hypno sound perhaps some droppings from other Bhs.
Some even ask what about Amonia?
My reply was I DON’T/NEVER use Amonia in all my Bhs and also in all the Bhs that I had built for others.
Using Amonia is already out dated …..for a mere $50.00 of 25kg pack that could last you years. Do you think it works? The pungent smell that is so strong that could kill the senses of the Swiftlets, especially young swiftlet. Swiftlets rely on their senses to survive (hunt, socialise, navigate, etc). Once their senses have been destroyed they will never survive.
That is why I said in my last article the number 1st enemy of your Bh is yourself if your Swiftlet farming skill and knowledge are somehow half pass six.
So be observant you will learn lot of things.
Good Swiftlet farming All!
