One thing most Swiftlet farmers must need to know is that Swiftlet farming looks dam easy to do and the truth is dam hard to be done which most have to swallow.
Commonly most would think that just get a building , close all the windows , open a hole, install some planks, fix the sound system that's about it and wait for the money to pour in.
Sincerely the truth it is not that easy. How many actually did the above and laughing all the way to the bank? I guess none. If yes its just a handful out of thousand. (perhaps pure luck)
Above are some of the scenarios. The problem with Swiftlet Farmers are, they had the tendency to believe in Myth and rumours. Whatever some said something they tend to believe and do without consulting those who have in dept knowledge on this. The result they ended up paying hefty.
If it is so easy then the market failure rate won't be at 80% failed. If it is so easy to rare Swiftlet just like Chickens or Hamsters then there might be billion flying above us everyday even at KLCC.
Swiftlet farming is all about intelligent, believe me. The person must has the ability to observe and notice the slightest changes. HE must has a brain that are flexible in term to catch what swiftlet wants. I had brought a person into a good farm that harvest 20kgs a month. 3 months later he build a farm with what he had observed and knew. Now 2 years later his farm only managed to have 15 nests.
Now Every Tom ,Dick & Harry ( Not that Harry) knew that in order to have a good farm the micro temp must be around 29C ,Rh 80, blar...blar..blar...There are thousand out there where their farms are conformed to such standard but still fail. I had visited so many of this farms.
So what the reason? Call me If am free I might tell you over a cup of tea.
Pls: I've forgotten to mention about farm design which is one of the most decisive factors. Not all farms share the same design. Definitely no duplication. Duplication = fail.
