Last week when was on my way to P.Dickson. I received a call from one of my readers.
“Hi James, how are you? I am Mr. O from Pagoh. I have followed your blog since last year and I would like to thank you for your kind effort to provide useful information to all swiftlet farmers.”
“You are welcome Mr. O, I replied. How could I help you?’
“James I have a Stan Alone farm which I built 2 years plus ago in Pagoh the result is not good. It has only 8 nests now. I had tried all ways to rectify it even some well known consultants were invited but it is still the same. So to counter my frustration now I am building another one around this area as I have about 35 acres of land here. I presume the new farm will be better than the existing one and I am confident about it. The foundation works is on going now for a week.”
“I replied, Mr. O, confident is totally another thing. Before you started building your your 1st farm did you do the preliminary works first like Birds test evaluation, location potentiality evaluation, Swiftlets population evaluation and so one?”
He was muted for a while and replied well I did see many birds around. Then I prompted him further. What about the size of your building, the size of the roving, and the position of the entrance hole…….. the thickness of the wall, the material use and so on…………( the whole design package).
This time he was lost….totally lost. The only replied he gave me was “JAMES CAN I CALL YOU BACK IN A SHORT WHILE? I HAVE TO CALL MY CONTRACTOR TO STOP THE CONSTRUCTION WORKS IMMEDIATELY.”
Mr.O was a daring person. He built his farm with the knowledge he acquired from books, seminar and idea from friends.
Mr.O called me back later and we continue to chat further. We shall be meeting in Pagoh. I will have a look at his current farms first and from here I would advise him further. I asked him to hold on first the current construction.
Once it is done it will be “NO Turning Back”. Yes I do understand to some out there money is absolutely no an issue but this is not how I work as I always believe it’s wiser to do it RIGHT the first time.
Hope all readers could learn something from here.

Good Luck!

上星期當我在P.Dickson的途中。
