(It only sticks 1 feather that all..ha...ha.)
Did you know internal environment of a farm influences the quality of the nests in Swiftlet farms? Commonly known by many Temperature and Humidity have great effect on the quality of the nests. These included the sizes, the shapes, cleanliness, etc
But a good internal environment is more than just relying on good control of Temp and Humidity. There are other factors such as Smell, sound, darkness, smooth flying path and so on. If all these are in perfect condition it would harmonize the whole farm thus creating a condition that helps in nest quality.
But many didn’t know that Aroma and Sound equality give great impact in nest quality. A good quality or a suitable internal sound would help to increase the quality of nests in term of the sizes, shape, and cleanliness and also speed up the time taken to for the birds to make nests.
Have you ever wonder why some nests are dirty with many feathers, odd shaped, small, and so on when your humidity and temp are on the acceptable level while your friend’s farm humidity and temp are not as good as yours but his farm produces good quality nests? This has to do with internal sound.
External sound are inviting sound that attract Swiftlets to your farm while internal sound pacifier them to stay and make nests. How fast and how good quality and how many nests swiftlets want to make all depended on the quality of the internal sound.
The Internal sound has to be smoothing, I think I had mentioned it many times over and over again. It cannot contain just baby sounds no way a successful farm that has thousands of nests inside only consists of baby sound.
If you go into a successful at night, listen to the sound inside you will get what I mean make sure the farms you visit have more than 2000 nests not those 20 nests farms.
When your internal sound is of those common one from the market you can forget about good quality nests. It has to be something more than that because a good internal sound would make Swiftlets inside the farm especially at night feel safe and comfortable thus making the swiftlet more calm. When such situation arises eventually the swiftlet would make good quality nests. They would build bigger nests, cleaner nests and the time to make them is faster
Internal sound that is not suitable would affect the quality of nests because it would create shock and it traumatizes the birds. Some internal sounds available in the market are done by people who have little understanding in sound differentiations between tunes.
If the sound has been mixed with unpleasant sound the swifttlet that sit on its nests would feel uncomfortable and the tendency of turning and the moving on the nests (or hanging) increase thus making the feathers sticking easier.
Birds spend whole night in farms hanging or sitting on their nests they should feel as comfortable as possible. The more comfortable they are the better nests they build. Any distractions from a poor internal sound would affect the quality of nests.
So if you want good nest quality and want your farm to have more nests make sure you use a right internal sound.
But there are still many so called Sifus claimed that the external sound is more important than internal sound. I always disagree with that. To me both equally important if you want to make a good internal environment.
