“Thank you so much. So when will you be coming to my Bh again to inspect and teach me more things…ha..ha.”
This was the joyous response from Mr. K of Linggi.
I had visited his Bh not long ago. Initially there were not many birds entering his Swiftlet farm. When I observed from outside there were many of them circling the Hex tweeters and some trying to get close to the entrance hole. But after few attempts the birds went back to the Hex and pay no attention at the external hole.
I told Mr.Y that the tweeters at the Entrance hole could have cause some confusions to the birds that is why majority of the birds didn’t fly in.
This is the nature of swiftlet’s behavior, once they sensed difficulty or danger that may obstruct their flying path, by all means they would avoid it. A.Fuciphangus is not like other birds which if they landed on the ground they couldn’t take off again and fly This means dead is definite. Therefore the ground is a dead zone. With such instinct whatever routes or flying paths that poses danger that may affect their flight by all means they would avoid.
By understanding the Swiftlets behavior it is wise to install the External at the right place. Secondly in order to have the best out of it the external sound has to be good too. If the external sound is not attractive then it won’t works even if the tweeters are at the appropriate place.
Both have to work together as we know in swiftlet farming all factors are somehow inter related.
To me the entrance hole is one of the most important areas, also it is a gateway of success in Swiftlet farming. If swiftlets don’t want to fly in the bh then no matter how expensive the building is, how state of art it is, what advance gadgets in it is of no use.
So do something about it today and see the different tomorrow!
Good Swiftlet farming All!
