Does the initial performance counts? Maybe yes, May be not. Don't be too happy when your farm attracts lots of birds and have lots nests in just couple of months.

There are many cases where the 1st year performance was superb and thereafter the nests growth stagnated for years. Quite often I received call from readers complaining about this.

A good farm should have a gradual growth over time. Immaterial how big is the growth percentage most important there is a trend to grow. Years over years it should be improvement. If it doesn't then there must be something wrong.

It is just like a business. It must expend over time . If it doesn't in no time you will be out of business. As more and more new businesses of the same trade will emerge. This is the nature of business and Swiftlet farming fall into the same category as more and more sophisticated farms are coming up everyday..

There are Some I called slow and steady farms which in the 1st year it only managed to have 10-15 nests.In the 3rd year the nests could reach up to 800. There are also some in the 1st year managed to have 50-150 nests but these 50-150 will be till the 3rd or 4th year.

There are so many underlying conditions that affect the above. There are hundreds of them and one of the most important is proper knowledgeable maintenance.

Secondly the ability to observe and notice the changes in the farms. This will help you to counter whatever set back.
