I shall be in A.Setar this weekend to revamp a Stand Alone farm. The owner wants it to be done soonest.

I understand his request, no point of waiting. There are few major structural things need to be done. Probably an additional beam has to be erected.

It was sad to see this poorly build farm. The construction cost was not cheap. The result was unsatisfactory after 1 yr plus. The basic simplest farming construction techniques were never applied by the contractor when building this farm. I can't blame him. Maybe he has very little knowledge in Swiftlet Farming.

Now it is going back to basic. Double works have to be done. Reviving a sick Bh is not easy. There are many things that I can not simply knock down. It may affect the structure of the farm. It is not like building a new farm where I can plan freely without having to consider the current structure. It is tidiest job.

The walls of the farm are very hot reaching 36C during the day. It transfers all the heat into the farm. The walls have no special insulation material to prevent this so I shall be adding additional materials to solve this problem. The one who built it should have thought of this.

Ventilation holes are to be added to this farm. New partitioning will be placed in the farm to create a buffer zone thus reducing light and to create a smooth flying path.

Besides that I have to stabilize the micro. It is not easy but it can be done. Once it is done we will see nests increase.

Everything in a farm is linked to one and another. Changes of one part of the micros effects the other. It is inter-link. When reviving a farm we have to take consideration of all these.

Hope to complete in 2 weeks time. I will manage it for 6 months and when the nests reach certain number then I will pass the key back to the owner.

(If the basic is being applied, the chances of going wrong are very slim. However how many actually apply the basic of farming when design or building farms? The answer is not many.)
