Consistency Helps, from 500 to 1200 Nests

In Swiftlet farming consistency in term of maintenance are very important. That means whatever you do it must be a continuous works at a planned period.

This included Aroma application, sound & tweeters replacement, etc and the list goes on.

Many adapted the way of one time service which I named it because after their farms started they will never do anything to it till few years later. If lucky, their farms may have nests otherwise they will start condemning the one who build their farms.

Most owners put all responsibilities to the one who built the farms. The mentality is that I've got money I pay you, you answer to whatever regarding the farms.

Just like sending a child to school if the child can't get good results the teacher is to be blamed.

Most successful farm's owners will never adapt or have such mentality. Most of them are brilliant, sharp and practice maintenance consistency.

One of the good example is an Owner from Setiawan who is a regular reader of my blog who has 10 farms.

He is a regular user of Love Potion and has been using it since Love Potion was launch last year.

His farms showed impressive results from 500 nests to 1200 in 7 months. The best part claimed by him is that he only apply it in certain sections of his farm and wanted the see the differences.

All the high number nests increases were in the rooms and floors that he had applied Love Potion.

That's not all. Out of the 10 farms he only selected half of them to have the Love Potion tried out. The results all showed positive compared to those that he didn't apply Love Potion.

His tricks was to apply them regularly according a planned period without fail. He said " most would just apply once then expect miracles. As birds will take a while to condition to the environment and later nests building will follow.

Previously few of his farms nests growth were stagnant. He dare not invest further on new farm.
Recently he called me up and said he is building few new farms. I asked him I thought that you won't be investing in new farms anymore? His reply was" Now I dare because of Love potion and I know how it works and I know how to make use of it".

So consistency is most important. This is not just a presumption it is fact. Common sense will tell you. A consistent stability of RH, Temp, Aroma, etc will help to increase nests in farm.

Important stages of Swiftlet Farming

In swiftlets farming there are few stages that a farm will go thru that will justify the survival of the farm.

1)The ability to attract birds

This is the first and most important amongst all stages. If a farm is unable to attract birds to come in then it is of no use of taking about nests.

This has to do with the location , farm's design, entrance Hole position, Aroma ,quality of Int & Ext sound, etc.


2) The ability to make birds stay

This related to the Micros. The Aroma, Rh, Temp, Internal sound,etc. Any of these are not favorable to the birds then it would be hard for them to stay and make nest.

3) To increase the Population at a shortest time

The above 1 and 2 have to be in perfect condition and when both combined it would help to increase the bird's population thus nests will follow.

4) Quality of nest.

At this stage the micros still play an important role. The micros would affect the quality of the nest and the birds population.

5) To increase the number of nest

Good harvesting technique would help at this level. Improper harvesting technique that without planning and poor skill of harvesting will affect the number of nests.

At this stage a good micro would also help. A constant good micros are needed.

A Hotel That Doesn't Provide Anything but Wants to Be the Best in Town.

Old thought of school ideas will no longer work. Everything in this world is constantly changing none will remand the same as time goes by.



This is the Law of nature being living things the changes are more rapid. The are still many struck in the old idea ways of Swiftlets farming.



There many still believe that the micros are not important. As long they had completed the farm and play the sound , let it be , leave it for few months and wait the Swiflets will come in and build nests.



Do you think it is as simple as that? If it is then it won't be 80% fail ratio in the market. For those who did exactly that and managed to have nests in their farms are those who are lucky by chances. Probably such type of farm are only few amongst thousand.



The common old ideas are No to humidity means No to humidifier or water sprinkler, No to aroma, No to good farm design , No to sensitivity of light and the list goes on.



That means the RH, temp,etc are not important at all. Most will tell you that when the number of nests increased then only they install those items. Well they could be true if their farms were the only first 10 farms in Setiawan, Muar or Kuala Krai.



What they are hinting is : I built a Hotel. I don't provide Air-cond. There is no toilet in the room neither they are beds or pillows. If you want you could sleep on the floor. Later when my Hotel business improved with many customers then only i install the above.......



Do you think this type of Hotels will make it? Only when the whole Malaysia has no Hotels except these few. Customers have no choice otherwise they have to spend a night on the streets.



What if there are Hilton, Sheraton and JW Mariot at the other corner of the town and Shangrila and Westin at the opposite which charging the same rate as the Hotels that don't provide Air-cond, beds and pillows.Do you thing the customers would still choose the one that has no Air-cond, Beds and Pillows?



Don't need to be genius to figure out this. That is why birds had always chosen the best the one that stand out amongst others.

Want to have a good and successful farm provide what the birds ( customers) want not what you want . Otherwise your farms are of no different from many farms around (failed ones).

That is why some farms out performed other even though both are located in the same area.

Want to own a successful farm ? Simple......all you have to do is think logically.

One of My New Farm"Good Result "

Here are some of the pictures of my new farm which started early this year. The location is not at Prime Bird Zone area . Nevertheless the result was satisfying. Within 3 months plus there are more than 10 nests which some are in full cup. There are plenty of new nest marking which surprised me.


Most nests are made at the corners. It is easier for inexperience birds to build nest.

Nest coming soon. Most of the nests in my farm are at the corner. So it is important to have many corners.

Imagine if this farm is located in places like Kelantan or Trengganu . I bet it could easily hit 100 nests in few months time.

This is a result of good farm's design and good internal environment. I only use Love Potion every two weeks once . Certainly No pouring of bird shit or ammonia on floor .

New Improved Love Potion

The Love Potion had helped many farms to improve their bird's population. For new farms it had attracted many birds to stay and make nest.


The feedback from the users were good and ever since that many had being using it continuously that is why sometimes the stock runs out.


It has been almost 10 months now since the Love Potion was launched. Over the time I had continuously improving it doing my own research to push the potion's birds attraction capability to a higher stage.

Many trails were done in my own farms and farms of my close friends. It seemed the new improved one that had been added with some new stuff performanced better.

Birds seemed to like it more and it helps new farms to attract birds to build nests in a shorter period of time.

One of the farms that I am building

He is one of the farms that I am building in the North. It is a 20 x 70 ft, 3 storey building. The owner is converting the 1st and 2nd in to a Swiftlet farm. Formerly was an office.

As you can see in the picture all partitions had been removed and my worker is clearing up the debris.The ceiling is not spared. A new ceiling will be made with material that is good in heat insulation.

Busy Building Farms

I have been very busy traveling lately. Thanks for the support from my readers who had allowed me to help them to set up their farms.

As most would notice that I didn't up date my blog. This is due to my busy schedule. When I set up a farm I always making sure that the owners are involve in term of understanding how a successful farm should be built.

.

In most cases I will tell them why the farm is being built in such way..... Thru out the construction period the owners will learn about the design and other necessary skill to manage the farm.

Therefore many enjoy talking to me as they knew I will share with them the ideas during the period of the construction.

One owner told me. “James, I kill 2 birds with 1 stone. When I engaged you to do my farm .At the end I get 1 farm and a free lecture of Swiftlets farming. The skill and knowledge are invaluable".

That is why it has taken lots of my time. Imagine on site lecture! I think I should cut down on that, on site lecture. Anyway most consultants don't do this. Most would say "Let us do the thinking and birds luring”. Your job is to pay us and sit back have tea and wait. Later you will be smiling to the bank. In most cases later smiling to the bank never materialized.

What to do I am into Swiftlets farming for the love of A.F.

How a Good Farm Should be

This is a video of a very successful farm . It took 15 minute for all birds to enter the farm. Thousand of birds rush in. The owner says he himself didn't expect this when he first started.
