許多人想知道為什麼我的部落格沒有被更新與加新的長貼。事實上，我真的收到很多關於這方面的電子郵件，他們很擔心我是否已經停止寫作。

我向所有讀者真誠的道歉，最近我忙著燕養設備的大眾市場和這拿了我很多的時間。我將嘗試盡量經常更新我的部落格，如果時間允許的話。

別擔心我不會停止提供免費資訊和養燕知識的。最終，這個部落格的存在是爲了教到人們如何在一個正確方法成為一個成功的燕屋主。我會繼續寫，還有教導所有想要成為一個成功的燕屋主。

我被要求發表評論，有關這些幾天前收到的燕屋農場的照片。它是從我的讀者，一位出席了研討會的讀者。他想要與我分享他已學會了什麼，和想要我的評論。他是燕屋農場的新手，而不會被別人拉著鼻子走。這裡是從他的電子郵件。

我想在這裡與您分享我出席的一個本地 xxxxxx xxxxxxx 研討會的經驗。

前幾天，我出席了一個由xxxxx xxxxxx xxxx 舉辦的討論會。我參加這個課程的目的是要獲取可以用來申請養殖許可證的證書。我很高興，因爲我很幸運的找到了你的部落格，在出席這次研討會之前閱讀了你的部落格。

這位演講者不相信燕子測試和好的燕聲。他說：漫天都是燕子，所有不必擔心沒有燕子。那些人說你需要做一個燕子測試才可以建立一個燕屋農場是"騙人的"。這使我的夥伴和我有一些爭論，我的合夥人指責我浪費金錢去買了一塊新的地（燕子的測試結果是100-200只燕子或更多），因爲我們可以使用已經擁有的那塊地 (第1塊地的回應是5-20只燕子，第二塊地2-10只燕子) 和 "慢慢pelan pelan"的燕子就會來的。

其次，採用像你總是在你的部落格所說的，良好的紅色meranti木，但該演講者說，只要木板是軟和無異味的木板，它就可以使用為燕板。我的夥伴建議我使用julutong木，而不是使用紅色的meranti木 （由於缺乏預算，我的搭檔總是查詢我們燕屋農場裏使用的材料，我不怪她。順便說一下，我一定會堅持使用紅色的meranti木)。

大部分提出的主題都是很基本的，當然在這次研討會也有學會新的東西。尤其是易位和 印跡的戰術（演講者也不相信使用引燕的戰術，那就是燕聲） 而我們身為燕屋主，可以在這裡從野生動物部門買小燕子，然後把它放進燕屋農場裏，這就是（易位），當燕子寶寶第一次張開它們的眼睛， "銘記"的過程將會發生，小燕子將列印這個燕屋農場為它們心目中的家，而小燕子將永遠不會離開這個燕屋農場。很令人印象深刻......，但是，是否能行的通還是未知數。

在此之後，我們還被帶到參觀一個非常成功的燕屋農場，是演講者本身的燕屋農場。我不知道它是否真的成功、 那燕屋農場(20' x 40' x 2F) 似乎不是完全被住滿，而且還是運作超過 5年的時間了, 裏面有少量的高音揚聲器、 沒有加濕器、 沒有測量溫度和濕度的小工具、 發梅的木板，一些燕窩看起來太干和破裂了。只是樓上被燕子區住 （入口洞是從低層的） 和低層是沒有燕子的。我將與您分享一些照片。請發表評論。

從這些照片來看，我真誠的評論是如下：

差勁的昆蟲控制，如果你有仔細的看（到處都是） 在木板上有許多黑點，尤其是高音揚聲器的周圍和後面。你知道這些是什麼嗎？這些都是蟑螂的大便。這個燕屋農場是佈滿了蟑螂。我相信還有其他的肉食動物。燕子不敢造燕窩在高音揚聲器的周圍。這啓發了燕屋主相信爲什麽聲音並不重要。您需要很明銳和知識淵博才可以看的到超越基本。破裂的和變形的燕窩表示屋内環境是在不完美的階段。一定是有太多的空氣流通在這個燕屋農場裏。

我肯定你們很多人都想知道為什麼燕子不造燕窩在這些高音揚聲器？這不是它們最喜歡的地方嗎？這是有原因的，要不就是這個內聲是完全地糟糕的或者一定是有其他不正確的東西。在這種情況下，上面的照片就告訴所有。

錯誤的木板形成，燕子會很困難張開它的翅膀。它是太小了，尤其是它們要展開翅膀來降落和起飛時。你總是可以辯稱那裏仍然有燕窩......它可能會有更多燕窩的或者雙倍，如果木板之間的空間是更大的。你不想要更多的燕窩嗎？（目前它是少過1尺，如果我沒錯的話）

木板沒有條紋，還有木板是沒有被磨滑。其中一個常見被燕屋主誤解的概念是沒有條紋和磨光的木板是更好的。我堅決不同意。我們正在談論的是事實，而不是概念或神話。

沒有條紋和磨光的木板： 骯髒的燕窩 （當收穫燕窩時，木屑和粒子會粘上燕窩。燕窩的品質會減少，等等）。從木板的尖利會防止燕子做燕窩，它會刺到燕子。

以前沒有條紋和磨光的木板因爲這些設備並不存在，並不是它更加高尚。

蟑螂很喜歡吃燕窩。看看那些在燕窩上的洞。任何在燕屋農場裏的一切都顯示一些東西。是由我們如何界定和解釋它們而已。是需要知識和技能來解釋所有這些跡象。那些無法識別和惡化的預想，對於他們所有的燕屋農場都是相同的。在這種情況下，這個燕屋農場看起來不錯，並且沒有任何問題，但是它是在沉默中的痛苦。

發黴的木板，燕子根本不會在這裡做燕窩。它不是因爲我們著迷于meranti、 是的我同意，所有的木板都可以用來做燕板，除非它是沒有味道和防真菌的。但是到底有多少種類型的木板有Meranti這種素質？（有其他的選擇，但是有些硬的木板是太昂貴了)。即使沒有加濕器已經被真菌感染，如果有安裝加濕器的木板又會如何呢？沒有良好的濕度，燕窩將會又髒、又薄、 又有裂紋、 還很小等。這就是這個燕屋農場現在所面臨的危機。燕屋主是否知道這些事呢？

還有更多的評論，但是我想我還是到此爲止，說太多也不太好。我希望那些面臨類似問題的人會立即加以糾正，否則它會影響燕子的人口數量。

 Many were wondering why my blog was not updated with new post. Indeed I did receive many emails regarding this and they were worrying that I had stop writing.

My sincere apology to all readers, lately I am busy with the mass market of Swiftlet Farming Equipments and this has taken lots of my time. I will try to update my blog as often as possible if time permits.

Don’t worry I won’t stop providing free information and swiftlet knowledge to all. After all the existent of this blog is to teach people how to become a successful Swiftlet farmer the correct way. I will continue to write and teach all who want to become a successful Swiftlet farmer.

You Need to be Sharp and Knowledgeable

I was asked to comment about the Bh in these pictures that were sent to me few days ago. It was from my reader who had attended a seminar. He wants to share with me what he has learned and wants my comments. He is new in Swiftlet farming and he wouldn’t want to be lead by the nose. Here is the email from him.



Good day Sifu James,


I'm here to share my experience of attending seminar with the local xxxxxx xxxxxxx.

Last day I have attended a swiftlet farming seminar organized by xxxxxx xxxx of xxxxx. My purpose of attending this course is to get a cert to apply for the farming license. I'm glad to say I'm very lucky to have found your blog and have read your blogs before attending this seminar.

The speaker doesn’t believe in bird test and a good swiftlet sound. He said that all places in are full with swiftlet, so don't worry about no birds. Those who say you need to do a bird test before can build a BH is "tipu". This make my partner and I have a little argument, my partner blamed me for wasting money to have bought a new land (Bird test result 100-200birds or more) as we can use the land we already have (1st land-respond 5-20birds, 2nd land 2-10birds) and "pelan-pelan" the birds will come too.

2nd the using of good meranti merah wood like you always said in your blog, but the speaker said as long as the wood is soft and no smell it can be use as the nesting plank. My partner suggest me to use julutong wood instead using meranti merah wood (Because of the lack of budget my partner always query the materials I want to use into our BH and I not blame her. By the way I will stick using the meranti merah wood.)

Most of the topic presented are quite basic, off cause there is a new things I have learn from that seminar too. Especially the Translocation & Imprinting Tactic (Speaker not believe in calling bird tactic, the sound) where we, the BH owner can buy the cave baby birds from wildlife and bring it into the BH (Translocation), when the baby birds 1st open their eyes the "Imprinting" process will happen where the baby bird will print that the BH as their home in their mind and the baby will never leave the BH. Quite impressive…but not sure it will work.

After that we are allowed to visit the BH which is said as a very successful BH own by the speaker. I'm not sure whether it is really successful or not, the BH (20' x 40' x 2F) seem not fully occupied after operate for more than 5years, inside have little tweeter, no humidifier, no temp & humid measurement gadget, molded plank, some of the bird nest look too dry and cracked. Only upper floor are occupied by birds (Entrance Hole is from lower floor) and none in lower floor. I will share some picture to you. Please comment.

That seminar and BH visit is my very 1st experience, and I really enjoy it because I can apply what I have learn from your blog to evaluate the BH visited not by just accepting everything I saw and presented by them. Well my sincere comment by judging from these pictures are as follows:

Poor pest control, if you look closer there are many  black spots on the planks ( everywhere) particularly around and behind the tweeter. Do you know what are these? These are cockroache shits. This Bh is infested with cockroaches. I am sure there are other predators too. Birds dare not build nests around the tweeters. This has transpired the owner to think that sound is not important. You need to be sharp and knowledgeable to see beyond the basic. Cranked and deformed nests indicated the Micro is not at preferable level.There must be too many movement of air in this Bh.

I am sure many of you have wondered why birds are not building nests at this tweeter? Isn't that their favourite place? Well there are reasons for this, either the internal sound is seriously lousy or there must be something not right. In this case the picture above tells all .

Wrong planking formation, birds having hard time when flapping their wings. It is too small for them to spread their wings when landing and take off. Well you could always argue that there are still nests  built here...It could have been more nests perhaps double if the space between planks are bigger. Wouldn't you want more nests? ( currently it is less than 1 ft if I am right)

No grooves on planks and the planks are not ground smooth. One of the common misperception among Swiftlet farmers is that non grooved and grind planks are better. I strongly disagree. We are talking about facts not perception or myths.

Non grooved and grind planks : Dirty nests (sawdust and particles stick on the nests when harvesting. Quality of nests is reduced,etc).  Sharp spikes from planks prevent birds from making nests, it pokes birds.

Non grooved and grind planks were used because those days grooved and ground planks were not available. It is not that they are superior.

Cockroaches like to eat nests. Look at those holes on the nests. Everything in the Bh shows something.It is up to how we define and interprete them. Knowledge and skills is needed to  interpret all these signs . Those who are unable to identify and interprete the detearorating signs, to them all Bhs would look the same. In this case this Bh looks good and has no problem but it is suffering in silent.

Moulded Planks, birds won't build nests here. It is not that we are obsessed with Meranti, yes I do agree that all woods can be used for planking provided there are odourless and fungus resistant. But how many types of woods have such properties other than Meranti? (There are other options, but some hard woods are too expensive). Even without humidifier the planks already inffested with mold what if humidifiers are installed? Without good humidity the nests will be dirty, thin, crack, small, etc.This   is  what this   Bh     facing   now. Does  the  owner know about this?........

There are more comments, but I guess I just have to keep it til  here, it won't be good to say too much. I hope those who are facing similar problems would rectify them immediately or else it would affect the birds population .
